mastodon 4.7.3Australia's conference for (and by!) the Python programming community.
We've just published an important post clarifying how to best apply humour to your talk proposals at #pyconau.
We'd love everyone to be able to craft an interesting and entertaining talk that enthralls the audience, without missing the mark on the intended impact of any jokes.
Please give this a read if you intend on using memes, jokes or satire in your proposals.
We're at #dddmelb this weekend, sponsoring the community hall!
Join us for a sticker swap in the "pink" Collins room to meet the local Melbourne community, and learn about the #pyconau CFP!
Make sure you say hi to the PyCon AU team in their swanky 2026 shirts! 👕 They might just have some exclusive stickers to share that aren't on the table. 🤫
Oh, and one last thing... if you register this weekend you can still snap up one of the last remaining blind bird tickets!
Are you at @everythingopen@fosstodon.org this week? Say hi to @gdayitsjack@tech.lgbt and @chelsea@cloudisland.nz and grab a #pyconau sticker!
Our call for specialist tracks closes soon too! If you have an idea for a track now is the time to let us know!
Check out https://2026.pycon.org.au/specialist-tracks/ for more details (or snag a blind bird ticket!) and catch Jack and Chelsea on-site before Friday!

First-time speakers give some of our favourite #PyConAU talks. Your perspective is the talk. Nobody else has it.
Also: if travel or accommodation costs are a barrier, financial assistance is available for speakers (priority given to applicants from Australia, NZ, and the Pacific).
