I’m absolutely blown away by the response to CFP this year! Utterly phenomenal. You’re going to make program selection so difficult. Thank you everyone! 💜

Please tell me someone on the recovery crew is going to open the capsule wearing a “you’re on mute” tee! 🤣
I jumped on the microphone with @richlitt@mastodon.social to discuss the sustainability of regional conferences like @pyconau@mastodon.pycon.org.au and how important it is to have a thriving local community!

Thanks for having me on Richard, it was a great conversation 🎉
If you're anything like me, you've left submitting to #PyConAU CFP until the very last minute. Well those last few minutes are TODAY, as the CFP closes in just a few hours time.

Don't delay! Submit... now!
RE: @pyconau@mastodon.pycon.org.au
Join us online this week for our last talk writing workshop!
It’s free to attend, and is a great way to brainstorm ideas for talks to submit to #pyconau this year!
And the best thing is, we work through skills and techniques that apply to all sorts of public speaking for meetups and conferences!
RE: @pyconau@mastodon.pycon.org.au
I'm running a free, online workshop to help you craft an awesome proposal to speak at #pyconau this year!
It's this Thursday evening (AEDT).
Details at https://2026.pycon.org.au/cfp/workshops/
Irrespective of law enforcement this is just good opsec. I don’t want message bodies in notifications!
RE: @pyconau@mastodon.pycon.org.au
In my latest blog post from #pyconau I go behind the scenes to share how we form a conference schedule from all the talks that have been submitted.
The program review committee really has their work cut out for them this year (thank you!) - we exceeded every single target I could have imagined! 🚀
So. This is how we select the talks that get accepted to the conference! 👀 📖 👇🏼
RE: @pyconau@mastodon.pycon.org.au
Just an hour left now... don't miss out! Submit that idea you've been sitting on! #pyconau
RE: @pyconau@mastodon.pycon.org.au
I always leave these things to the last minute... and I can see by our submission rates that you do too! 📈
This is your last opportunity to share your talk, workshop and posters ideas with @pyconau@mastodon.pycon.org.au - and we would genuinely love all your weird, whacky, fun and informative ideas to be considered!
Embrace the fun and whimsy and submit ideas that are 'quite different' even if you're not sure!
Talks do not have to have python code on the slides, they just have to share lessons and stories that are relevant to people who use Python. (That last bit is important).
And lastly, emphasising that our financial assistance program is also open to applicants in Australia and nearby Oceania countries that do not have a national Python event this year.

Apply ASAP (next few days is ok) if you would like your grant application to be considered alongside the CFP.
