Man, my M1 Pro and 15 Pro Max feel faster after updating... definitely waiting at least another year before upgrading. And Siri finally got good!

If people do not believe that mathematics is simple, it is only because they do not realize how complicated life is.

Surely it is plain to the simplest intelligence that To Kill a Mockingbird spells out in words of seldom more than two syllables a code of honor and conduct, Christian in its ethic, that is the heritage of all Southerners. To hear that the novel is "immoral" has made me count the years between now and 1984, for I have yet to come across a better example of doublethink.

To live a spiritual life we must first find the courage to enter into the desert of loneliness and to change it by gentle and persistent efforts into a garden of solitude.

You cannot take hold of it, nor can you get rid of it.
In not being able to get it, you get it.
When you speak, it is silent.
When you are silent, it speaks.

To be sure, power over people is an expression of superior strength in a purely material sense. If I have the power over another person to kill him, I am 'stronger' than he is. But in a psychological sense, the lust for power is not rooted in strength but in weakness. It is the expression of inability of the individual self to stand alone and live. It is the desperate attempt to gain secondary strength where genuine strength is lacking.
—Erich Fromm
