@kitkat_blue @davidrevoy interesting, are you suggesting all tutorials and learning material from the whole internet should be taken down to stop companies from training their models? I do like the idea of preventing misuse, but taking down free tutorials just doesn't seem like the best solution.

That is an important concern, and nice to act upon.
The approach of discouraging creators and limiting spread of knowledge might backfire however.

After about 7 years on Archlinux, I'm trying out NixOS on my personal machine.
The end goal is to migrate a windows machine in the office, while keeping things reproducible. Before the migration, I need to familiarize myself with the ecosystem.
So far I've commited the base config + a flake just to get my hands dirty. Let's see how it goes :)

@moonglum I'm not sure if the second group is actively aiming to depend on big tech. Maybe they're simply falling in the "comfort trap".
Maybe something along the lines of: "The tool makes life easier and more comfortable, do I need to think deeper and be conscious of what would happen if I use or support this tool? Nah. It gets the job done. Yay, I'm 10x dev now babee!"
They might even be fully aware of the environmental impact, technical debt, security risks, data leak, etc.
