mastodon 4.8.0-nightly.2026-10-06#Hope is the most underreported phenomenon of our times. Time to give it a platform and let it speak for itself 🎤✊🏽
🧵 1/3: #antifa demonstrations happened on both sides of the pond today. In #London, half a million people marched against the #farright and #racism, the largest demo of its kind.
Organised by the #togetheralliance, a broad coalition of civil society groups, trade unions, NGOs & figures like #zackpolanski, the #protest showcased the great #British creativity and humour, with its homemade banners that made us ponder, gave us a chuckle and a whole lot of #hope!
Interviews coming soon!

It is quite something to see Pepe the #frog being reclaimed from the #fascists and the return of #humour in the darkest hours. It is a very well studied historical fact that once humour is injected into #activism (not the "basket of deplorables punch down energy of many liberal TV comedians, no, the real energy of despair🥲 ), then governments are put in a lose-lose bind.
Look up dilemma action if you are interested.
Carolyn Gelenter, a daughter of a holocaust survivor, got arrested in September while she was interviewed about #Palestine Action. We caught up with her last week to hear whether she had any #hope things would #change both in the UK and #Israel. Spoiler: she did.

(short version)
At the Together Alliance march against the #Farright in #London, we really enjoyed interviewing Liberty about England's most famous immigrant, and Bokani about the new face of #racism. Bokani's last words about the simpler stuff of being of service resonate even more now the limelight has gone.
On the mainstream platforms, this video about the anti #farright march in #London got inundated with comments with the gist "the #Left are snowflakes, there's #freedomofexpression, the man can say what he wants".
Yes, except there's a difference between debate and #racist #harassment, the former requiring #consent of 2 or more parties to exchange views, however robustly but still in the respect of each other, the latter targeting #BIPOC, threateningly & uninvited.
Meet Sasha and his friends, fresh #musicians against #fascism and Aviel, a campaigner against the war in #Gaza, talk about why they attended the #TogetherAliiance march against the #FarRight in #London last Saturday.
Our latest interview: Agnes Kory is a renowned musicologist and #Jewish #holocaust child survivor. With extraordinary courage and candour, she describes her journey from surviving the holocaust, believing in the utopia of Eretz #Israel, to becoming a staunch #antizionist. Her relentless hope and honesty represent a Jewish voice that must be heard if #peace is to happen in #Palestine.
#GenZ in #Madagascar toppled their government, with President Andry #Rajoelina fleeing the country and a new temporary government now in place. This peaceful transition is a unique opportunity for one of the poorest countries on earth to address its #corruption and #colonial past head-on. We speak to Tokinomena, a young skater and graphic designer in #Antananarivo about his hopes for the future

We’re talking to Adrian at #SUGiProject about why pocket #forests are so cool and how they can help cities become better places.
Pocket forests technique was invented by Akira #Miyawaki, helping accelerate vertical growth.
What #Reform will never admit and what is currently the #media's best kept secret: the people who go on #Palestine #Solidarity marches in the #UK are really mostly #whitebritish 😱. And even more shockingly, they are non-#activists, with little to no experience of #protest.
We talk to Tayma, Hannah and Mandy about why going to central #London and show solidarity with #Gaza and all #Palestinians is a gesture of both necessity and #hope.
