@pgl@infosec.exchange hesiod is definitely on the list of things to add. Not only is it using the DNS as a directory service (instead of ldap), but it's one of only 3 DNS classes that exist (the others being the internet class and the chaos class). DNS Class will come in handy one day, but no-one yet knows when that day is, because no-one actually wants to deal with parallel namespaces.

@moh_kohn@mastodon.scot @GoteerTxuria@derg.social firefox ESR in my case; it's throwing errors like: "Content-Security-Policy: The page’s settings blocked an inline style (style-src-attr) from being applied because it violates the following directive: “style-src blob: *”. Consider using a hash ('sha256-eyEQIkqjJt2vT6Kt1pkSUhwTpB67WcyjJnghw+gdf54=', requires 'unsafe-hashes' for style attributes) or a nonce." And again, can't see anything without disabling the CSS.

@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social This is why the musical Camelot has its well-known hit single "Gary Indiana", that was spoofed in Spamalot

@moh_kohn@mastodon.scot I gave it a go. CSP errors are gone. more testing suggests the issue is with how the Atkinson font is getting loaded/used in the body. I don't think chromium is using that font, but it is falling back to Helvetica Neue correctly, where firefox isn't.

@SwiftOnSecurity@infosec.exchange my best argument for this---besides it being low-tech and physical security considerations being moot: when you die, someone can get into your accounts this way. Which for older and less tech-savvy people is actually really helpful.

@tinker@infosec.exchange I don't like google, but for a non-profit media org I'm involve in, it was the easy way to get 1) federated auth for our self-hosted services, 2) data governance for docs/drive, and 3) strong 2fa while still getting working email on our own domain. I don't like google, but it checked all the boxes we needed and was free.

@tinker@infosec.exchange I'm willing to believe there are better options if you only want email. But for the whole suite, for the price, it's really hard to argue with.

@citizen428 the C preprocessor is just m4 with marginally worse syntax. it was *designed* for this. (or more accurately, m4 was designed because someone else did this)

@polpo I remember a decade ago looking for a drive emulator for floppy controllers, and realizing *everything* in that space was targeted at industrial users. So cool that these are affordable and useful for normal people.

@benjojo "Meta, Akamai, Google, Netflix, Amazon (I don’t know there is a decent name for these but i’ve been calling them the The 'Magna' networks)" I like this name! I know there's FAANG, which used to be Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google (but also works for this set).

I guess this is more feasible than driving a 20-year-old car... But goddamn.

@bpettis@mastodon.benpettis.ninjahttps://vt.edu/status but tl;dr, we've delayed exams b/c students lost study time, and are officially taking the vendor at face value as having restored services. We also redirected our canvas vanity URL to our helpdesk status page for much of the duration of the outage.

@Daojoan@mastodon.social as someone in Higher Ed, I see this play over and over again. Someone decides to buy a product and then comes to IT saying "we paid for this, make it work"... Making it work is not our job, and the product wouldn't pass any actual review process for normal purchasing, but the Vice President who made the decision overrode all process. "Make it work".
