I've tested and confirmed - it's cheaper & more fun to visit #Taipei or #Seoul from #Kansai than #Tokyo. Helps that I know more people in both cities too, and both have much more vibrant international journalism & NGO communities.

Kinda don't see the point in going to Tokyo anymore. If I want to travel in Japan, lots of other places I'd rather go.

Pay attention to how many so-called #China experts have said nothing about Lai's unjust sentencing - or the many others in #HongKong who have been jailed just for expressing their political rights.

Too many of them stay silent for a variety of reasons - visits, or partnerships, or perhaps, I wonder, funding. We need to call them out more.

Wonder if this #webinar will mention #China's imperialism and its links to environmental justice in #Asia?

Judging from the panel, and the organizers, I doubt it...but thinking to join just to ask about it.

Really shocking. Comes a few days after #Zambia signed a cooperation agreement with #China and some are wondering if PRC pressure led to this happening.

It was a big effort to bring this conference (which was in #Taiwan last year) to #Africa, and I feel for organizers who had to cancel at the last minute.

What an argument. #China, which produces solar panels partly through exploitation of #Uyghurs and their homeland's natural resources, can somehow support the #green transition in a region where #Indonesia is exploiting #Papuans and their resources.

Another way to put this - #Chinese cheap panels, produced via colonial exploitation, and help Indonesia further its colonial exploitation in #WestPapua

#Taiwan-based new outlet The News Lens just took down all their #English language-content - years of original #reporting - without any notice, and, apparently, without informing their contributors too.

So much good #journalism has disappeared online.
