Happy Caturday!
Bridget is still unhappy that I won’t open windows because of wildfire smoke so I explained to her that it boils down to lack of political will to address climate change and now she’s decided to run for public office. #caturday #CatsOfMastodon #catstodon #cats
For #StandingStoneSunday it's Pentre Ifan from a visit 8 years ago to the day on a wonderful trip to #Wales with some English friends. The fellow checking his phone is Andy Burnham, no, the other one, of Megalithic Portal fame.
With another friend, Jon Morris, we were on an adventure to sources of Stonehenge's bluestones. In the process we experienced every kind of Welsh weather. We also saw Michael Parker Pearson give a talk. What a fun time!
It’s Bridget’s “Gotcha Day” aka International Bridget Day! Here’s an endearing video of her being adorable in the first days of her arrival. She’s so easy to love. 💕 #CatsOfMastodon #catstodon #kitty
I feel like I should be offering these top performers some kind of reward like maybe stocks or profit sharing. Sadly all I have for them is water and once in a while some plant food. #flowers #BloomScrolling #gardening
A picture from the owners of Bridget’s mom and litter, maybe the first picture of Bridget I saw. Didn’t take long for me to say “Yes, please!” #ThrowbackThursday #CatsOfMastodon #catstodon #cats
I've only spent a few minutes on this site but I thought I should share it for anyone who is curious about the living things around them. Identifying singing #insects seems especially interesting as the birdsong of summer diminishes. #naturehttps://songsofinsects.com/identification-basics
Calibrachoa ‘Coral Sun’. Its colours and eagerness to bloom make it pleasing to grow. #flowers #BloomScrolling #gardening
Visit from a male ruby-throated hummingbird with just a moment’s flash when his throat catches the light. He had been feeding on the purple salvia on the left but I couldn’t get my phone out in time. #birds #BirdsOfMastodon #hummingbirds #BloomScrolling

@jwisser@wandering.shop The narrative in my head goes like this though:
Me: Look at this beautiful flower I grew!
Narrator: She literally put a seed in the ground.

@jwisser@wandering.shop And there’s a surprising amount of satisfaction involved when they bloom or produce food, considering it’s the plants that do nearly all of the work.

@jwisser@wandering.shop She virtually shakes paws with you and asks that you get your friends to attend her virtual town hall.

@MissConstrue When I was growing up May Day was when my mom got us up early to pick flowers and put them on the neighbors’ doorsteps. Maypoles and all that. I support workers but I’ll always think of flowers on the first of May.

@jwisser@wandering.shop I might consider Light and Day by Polyphonic Spree, maybe AOK by Tai Verdes, and the one that may be too retro for your generation, It’s a Beautiful Morning by the Rascals

Also the date of the Carnation Revolution. May tyrants ever fall.

@jwisser@wandering.shop My mother often used to say Good luck beats good management every time!

@jwisser@wandering.shop You don’t know how I’ve struggled over the years to get a good picture of one of these. So cool!

@jwisser What is this? Someone tagged one of my pictures “birds work for the bourgeoisie” and I don’t know what it means.
