Looks like pumpkin spice is back on the menu, boys!
I wonder if it's significant that today, a PTO day, the day after two stressful work projects finally resolved, is the first day in weeks I had absolutely no trouble gettting up when my first alarm went off. 🤔
Also, just got a hummingbird visitor at dawn. Not a bad way to start a long weekend. 💚
There's nothing that makes you feel quite as stupid while being entirely harmless as trying to take a drink from a bottle with the cap still on.
Yesterday I noticed that one of the heads of a sunflower out on my front stoop was getting raided before the petals had even fallen off. Based on my keen knowledge of the sunflower's natural predators, I developed a theory and I staked out the front door with a camera.
Today's small friend is this yellow bandit, caught orange-beaked after returning to the scene of the crime. 💛 🖤 🤍🧡
A short list of things I have appreciated today:
1. For some reason I haven't been able to identify, the circuit breaker for my living room triggered today. Presumably, it protected several computers, game consoles, and other devices from overcurrent in the process. And afterwards… I just flipped it back on, and everything worked. That's pretty dang cool.

Apropos of nothing: while I'm quite happy to call myself a progressive, I still bear the childhood rage of finding out that people who by and large do not care about conserving the environment or anything else worthwhile have claimed the word "conservative".
You ain't conservin' anything, yer just a bunch o' reactionary motherfuckers who like to imagine you woulda been hot shit under a more autocratic system. 😡
Hoping against hope that this is the first of several dominoes to fall in succession, and that's why I've been feeling this immense mental pressure that It is about to Happen.
I've never had the urge to visit South Carolina before, but I'll make a pilgrimage just to dance on that particular grave.
The more I hesitate before signing off for PTO, the more badly I know I need that PTO.
For the love of all that's sacred, Jonas, the company can function without you for three goddamn days. 🙄

"AI exists to take good-paying jobs away from workers and further line the pockets of rich Silicon Valley elites. If they want to build these destructive data centers, let them do it in their own back yard."
That's it. That's the line. You're welcome, politicians.

Regardless of whether Mitch McConnell is alive or dead or in some liminal state enabled by modern medical technology, we can still all celebrate that his many sins have finally caught up with him to some extent.
Birds fed, plants watered. Now to do absolutely, gloriously nothing until it's time for fireworks. 😌
Just sat outside for three and a half hours and boy howdy am I pleased to be back in the air conditioning. 😅
Circa 2005, I had this fun idea for a Star Wars RPG campaign set in an alternate timeline where Anakin was the Emperor, and he raised Luke and Leia as his Sith enforcers—his own personal Vaders in crimson.
I haven't thought about this setting in at least ten years, but for absolutely no reason, this morning my brain started working on how exactly the backstory would work. How and when did Palpatine die? How did Anakin's confrontation with Obi-wan go?
why is my brain doing this
"You're worth more than what you can give to other people. You deserve love too."
Nero Wolfe is the Elrond of New York City, change my mind.
I recently started rewatching She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and I just got to the D&D episode.
What a good goddamn television show.
There is no such thing as over-communication.
Watched the first episode of Widow's Bay this morning before work and now all my brain wants to think about is cozy New England island horror fantasy. 😩
Curious to see if Widow's Bay manages to cut closer to the flavor I'm looking for than Haven did. Haven got _so close_ sometimes, with some genuinely good episodes—the reanimating taxidermy animals come to mind—but over all it just never quite landed for me.
I've decided to start a brand new Skyrim load order completely from scratch. I'm starting by trying to remove 1200+ mods from Vortex all at once.
Let's watch what happens, shall we?
I am slowly narrowing in on the mod that's been causing half-second lag stutters in certain locations in Skyrim, and I swear to god I think it's going to be a mesh or texture change on barrels or certain kinds of thatched roofs.
are you kidding me
"Are spiders useful? Because I have just learned how to make spiders!"
"For the Horde!"
"I don't agree with that sentiment but I'M ALSO HERE!"
