A new version of #python-discid, a Python wrapper library for #libdiscid, is now available. Version 1.4.0 focuses on modernizing the code base and updating the documentation.

@nicd I use the MusicBrainz Picard defaults and display both 'earliest release group year' and the 'actual release year' tag columns in my player, so I can see and browse by both. The tags in this case would be:
DATE = 2005
ORIGINALDATE = 1996 -a

A small mid-week release since we wanted to deploy some behind-the-scenes updates to remove potential vulnerabilities. This release also includes a small URL and interface improvements, and converts more pages to React.

Schema-wise, this release will be very light. At the same time, we’ll be requiring some major dependency upgrades to Perl, PostgreSQL, and Node.js. We’ll also be switching from Redis to Valkey in production. See below for more information.
The only breaking *schema* change is MBS-14252. It drops columns which are unused even in MusicBrainz Server, so should have little impact.

@thehole@dasforum.org Unfortunately I wouldn't expect this problem to be solved any time soon - we've been dealing with it on and off for months.
I'm not on the server admin team, but as far as I know: The server team is working on solutions but there are some tricky factors - The scrapers use endless amounts of residential IPs and because of how people use our site/API it's not as simple as plugging in something like Anubis or Cloudflare. A moment of silence for all the server admins in these times!! -a
