@worik this post uses open-weight model inference costs on OpenRouter to argue that Anthropic/Claude are probably profitable on marginal costs - https://martinalderson.com/posts/no-it-doesnt-cost-anthropic-5k-per-claude-code-user/
I have no inside knowledge, but this seems at least equally plausible to the Forbes article, unless we believe that Opus somehow costs vastly more to serve than Qwen.

@ellestad @tojiro re: redoing the roof - if your roof is near the end of its lifespan, redo it first, or combine the projects (some solar installers also do roofing or vice versa). I believe asphalt roof lifespan is 25-30 years and the solar panel warranty is usually 20-25, so they line up nicely if replaced around the same time.

@thunfisch I thought GDPR applies whenever the data subject is a person based in the EU, regardless of whether the data processing is also happening in the EU or the US?
I thought this was a great read on the current state of business/taxes/capitalism in the US, with a specific focus on Washington state

❝ But there is no such thing as capitalism in the singular. There are many capitalisms. The capitalism of 1880s America — child labor, company towns, no weekends — was capitalism. The capitalism of 1955 America — 35% union density, 91% top marginal tax rates, the GI Bill building the largest middle class in human history, GDP growth rates double what they are today — was also capitalism. Denmark is capitalist. Singapore is capitalist. The neoliberal version we have run in America since roughly 1975, delivering four decades of stagnant wages for most workers while routing nearly all productivity gains to the top, is also capitalism.
