The weirdest thing about the Iran war is the way the oil prices keeps bouncing up and down as if something good happened then something bad happened when in fact only bad things have happened.
The immigration system is set up like coming to America is a privilege America bestows and applicants should grovel for, when in fact immigration is a gift that America desperately requires. We should be begging people to come here, not erecting further barriers.
I cannot WAIT for the lawsuits about whatever it was that Ryan Breslow was personally doing that HR kept telling him to stop doing that led to him firing his entire HR team. https://fortune.com/2026/05/19/bolt-ceo-ryan-breslow-cut-hr-department-causing-problems-fintech-startup-turn-around/
We should probably invent a system where the world isn't run by people who happened to have rich parents.
So quick question: hacking into somebody else's servers and stealing information is a long-established crime. This week, OpenAI breached HuggingFace's servers. Why hasn't there been a criminal investigation? It seems clear a crime has been committed. https://x.com/ClementDelangue/status/208105667555
My most common form of intervention with my coding agent is to tell it stop fucking guessing and go search for the documentation.
Weird it's like people hate it when you tell them they will have no chance of getting a job

The USA and China are in the AI equivalent of the nuclear arms race except the bombs can decide independently whether they should go off. https://x.com/deredleritt3r/status/2082456471581634574?s=20
A website I helped build is literally in a museum now

My new flavor of Linux is written without these new fangled "keyboards". We punch cards like men.
This is a huge and horrible change to the lives of thousands of completely legal immigrants for no reason. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/05/22/us/politics/green-card-changes-trump.html
The experience of running Windows 11 to try and play Minecraft with the 10 year old is one of total bewilderment and frustration at all times. Just an absolute horror show of user experience.
Today Wily actually *played fetch*. She ran after a ball, picked it up in her mouth, and brought it back! I know this sounds trivial but I wasn't sure we'd ever get there! This is a breakthrough five years in the making!
So I guess we're invading Cuba next? When does the world retaliate against our unprovoked aggression? https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ckgpzwkn5jko
So anyway like I said 2 months ago the Iran war is not going to end while Trump is in office. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jul/30/us-strikes-iran-war-widening-iraq
Another old project dredged up from the depths and refreshed, my ranking of the US presidents: https://presidents.fyi/
Debian wants to ban contributions written with LLM assistance: https://www.debian.org/vote/2026/vote_002
It took my several weeks to watch the original Heartstopper. Now I have a 2-hour final movie to get through and I'm 15 seconds in and have already paused to let the awkward subside. How long will it take me to watch? Place your bets.
Pour one out for the unkillable cockroach of the first boom, Ask Jeeves.
Honestly, "you should have whined about this earlier" is a poetically perfect outcome for Musk vs Altman. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/05/18/technology/openai-trial-verdict-altman-musk?unlocked_article_code=1.jVA.UAI2.nFuT-ScJBy7i&smid=nytcore-ios-share
How many instructions can you give an LLM before it starts to forget about some of them? How long can your skill file be? How big can your prompt get?
I did some actual *research*!
Resurrected an ancient little side project; https://sfstreethistory.com is a fun little interactive history of San Francisco based on why streets have their names.
The thing about securing npm is that it's incredibly expensive to do. Socket does it for money. If Microsoft tried to charge for securing npm they would be criticized for not doing it for free so instead they just... don't do it, leading to our current mess.
Our house is 90 minutes away from anywhere, so whenever there's a power outage (as there was this morning) I know it will always be at least 90 minutes until power comes back, because that's how long it takes the truck to get here and discover there's a squirrel on the wire or whatever.
