Where are we going, and what are we doing in this handbasket?

@carnage4life@mas.to What really worries me is all the C-suite types who don’t have the sense to be skeptical of answers coming from the slop engines.

@ariadne@social.treehouse.systems The elephant-goldfish process is supposed to help with ironing out the design document before the LLM starts coding. I've used it at work due to demands to use AI, but it takes all the joy out of software engineering. No flow states when supervising a gaggle of agents.

it’s catholic canon that in the garden of gethsemane jesus christ saw every sin committed by human beings which means that he watched a guy blasting rope to waluigi hentai and still decided to sacrifice himself for humanity. absolute legend

@cstross@wandering.shop Seeing authors at play on social media is my way of discovering new books to read. I used to get things from awards shortlists; these days I get things that authors I like are enthusing about. Thanks to ebooks, I will not be crushed by my TBR pile in the next earthquake!

ANNOUNCEMENT: since reality itself is currently implausible, April Fool’s Day has been canceled for 2026.
@tess@mastodon.social One thing I really liked about the TTRPG Feng Shui was that the difficulty of an action was what it accomplished. So "I swing on a chandelier and kick him in the face!" and "I run up and kick him" are equally easy. So it encourages colorful narration.

@cstross It’s really an amazing collection of unforced errors. Perhaps an extreme example of a common problem that afflicts the rich: all the feedback mechanisms that keep people sane are gone.

@Canageek@wandering.shop I went into the "prefers subs over dubs" camp after a ten minute introduction to Japanese pronouns and honorifics. That nuance is hard to translate and understanding it adds enough to my appreciation of the shows that I find it worthwhile.
