Is CalyxOS ran by crypto/ai crybabies, fascists, and/or generally shitty people? I would like to know before I change my phone OS yet again.
… I'm getting tired of this shit…

Meeting people that you’ve know from online since forever, in person is so awesome. Especially when they’re just as lovely as or lovelier than you expected. It really helps with that feeling of loneliness, that there are real people all over the world who are great.
Rode my motorbike to work this morning. Making it my first actual full ride (~1hr) since I got the bike. It was a smooth and fairly relaxing ride. It used a similar amount of charge percentage as my Nissan Leaf does on a similar commute tho with less total range. I really enjoyed it.

Everyone, please bring back the RSS feed. Don’t make me sign up for yet another thing to get lost in my email inbox.

Generative AI isn’t bad because it’s closed source. It isn’t bad because it’s made by bad companies. It’s bad because it was designed to “solve” the ultra wealthy needing other humans that dare work for pennies of that wealth to live. It was designed for bad intentions from the very beginning. There is no good generative AI no matter who tries to tell you otherwise. Yeah, generative AI is likely not going away, but don’t pretend that somehow makes it ok. It spotlights who all is bad.

Happy Pride everyone!

I would like not to go to work anymore but still get paid please! I think I've had enough of "employers making me feel like I'm not and will never be enough" for a lifetime now. I believe I've paid my dues. I would like to be done now.

How do you plan to train these things without theft? Do you honestly believe there’s enough people that would opt-in to using their data to train the torment nexus just because it’s open source? What problems do you think you are actually solving for humanity outside of shareholder profits? If reading/writing emails are is unimportant that you can’t be bothered, maybe they don’t need read/wrote at all.

How does open sourcing AI stop the massive influx of misinformation? How does opening sourcing AI stop the deluding of human art. How does it help me sift through the slop to find real people with real connection? What good does a “good AI company” actually provide?

@annaecook@mastodon.social I have no words of comfort. Only that I think this daily, we share in the suffering of a system designed to keep us exhausted, and you are not alone. I hope one day we can change the system enough for some rest.

@jonmsterling while I see RSS feeds just as prevalent, unfortunately I find them less useful than they used to be as a lot of feeds are just a link back to the site with nothing but a headline and a "read it on the site" and/or "sign up for our newsletter". I want RSS to be my primary way to read the web but more and more feeds are basically useless. To be clear I don't think RSS is dead, but you can see how the ad funded web has hurt it's usefulness.

@danirabbit@mastodon.online @aburka@hachyderm.io but then you’d only have enough to use for one problem 😱 Unless of course you can preform the proper glitch or have a gameshark.
What are everyone’s favorite DRM free games? I would like to make a wishlist of games and slowly build out a game library not dependent on an account to play. I don’t mind Steam right now but I still don’t like knowing all my games are tied to a single company being chill. Boosts welcome

@hacknorris@mstdn.social Ooh, I had forgotten about flash games and with projects like Ruffle I could play them easily.

@zak Snowsky and JadeAudio (Fiio sub-brands) have been releasing what I think at least is dipping there toes into trying to capitalize on this market. With the release of the echo mini, disc, echo, and JM21 I think they are seeing if there’s enough interest in a “average person” player. Fiio proper still is only focusing on the HiFi market but I see these sub-companies as feelers for a more universal market.

@gcvsa I have a lot less junk in my RSS reader than my email inbox. Paired with categories/tags makes this less of a problem for me.

@kitsunegames I already bought Kitsune Tails on Steam but I’m trying to get more of my game library in DRM-free formats so this was a perfect opportunity for me. Thanks!

@zak I have an echo mini and can agree the ux leaves something to be desired but it works well enough for playing music. I agree that they unfortunately feel like disposable electronics but honestly so does my smartphone. Hopefully we as a society start regulating how repairable devices must be soon.
