@jpsays What an odd channel. It's put up 12 produced videos in just 6 weeks, doesn't credit anyone or link to any sources, has clickbaity titles and all kinds of spammy hashtags, and seems to be AI-narrated... but the imagery seems to be real and the information feels right (to this non-expert who skimmed the content, at least, but I can't say it *wasn't* written by an LLM). If it is legit, I wish they'd be more up front about who they are and how they're creating their content.

@solar_chase@mastodon.green It's not "for" kids, but I've been listening to CBC Radio's "Quirks and Quarks" since I was 8 or even younger. https://www.cbc.ca/radio/quirks
> I had a commenter on one of my posts insist that it's impossible that Mark Carney is worse for the climate than Harper was, and having taken the time to respond at length, I thought I should share that as a thread because it's clearly not just one person operating under that false belief. 🧵1/

This is the kind of thing that drives me nuts about #ForAllMankind: the Soviet administrator's wife (Tasha Polivanova, played by Olga Fonda) has appeared in two episodes, but the captions refer to him by name (Lenya) and her as "spouse". It's pervasive: most seasons have been built around the more interesting female characters, but until the last episode one of the male astronauts was credited first (don't let the door hit ya, Bob) and now the "lead" is just a dude who showed up last season.

@klangoso@ursal.zone @gedeonm@mastodon.social @SimonCHulse@mastodon.nz Yeah, the older video was just to indicate that he's been making them for a while, with similar equipment and results. His newest is the same video and was up before any of the social media messages that I've seen.

@annaghughes@mastodon.online I'm not sure what superhero franchise this is a poster for, but I'm buying my ticket now.

@annaghughes@mastodon.online Very well put, very true, and very encouraging, when it comes down to it. You've got more than enough reasons to focus on offline pursuits too. (No idea if it's true, but I always had the impression that your eggs, accents, and scicomm threads were a creative outlet to counter frustrations elsewhere.) In any case, looking forward to Refreshed Online Anna!
@zachleat @eleventy This predates you, but trust me that it's apt.

Sharing from Julie S. Lalonde. This session is tomorrow; I've done it in the past and can recommend highly!

The event marking the 25th anniversary of the theatre website I've maintained for 18 years/book launch of the site's founder is officially *sold out*! Woohoo! (And the audience will be bigger than everything else I've put on combined. 😂)

Pleased to report that the entire audience didn't die of wildfire smoke asphyxiation at tonight's Theatre in London.ca 25th anniversary celebration.
Missed a question at last night's pub quiz about the specific kind of disinterested simian that was "sold" during one of the early crypto-related bubbles because I legitimately couldn't remember what it was. Nature is healing.

@GeoffWozniak@masto.hackers.town Produced by Brooksfilms, i.e. Mel Brooks. (I was watching "Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man!" tonight.)
Also coincidentally, Lukas Haas also played a very effective heavy in Spider-Noir (which is fantastic in black and white).

@GeoffWozniak@masto.hackers.town To be fair, I've actually seen two roller skate-forward Fringe plays that I enjoyed: Roller Derby Saved My Soul (Nancy Kenny, several times) and A Midsummer Night's Fever (Winnipeg 1998, maybe?). Looking for those also reminded me of Whip It (2009) which isn't bad.
