Does your local meetup community need a website? Because I have just the theme for you.
Every community I've helped run has needed a website, and every time, we'd spent time hours browsing for themes and ended up rebuilding it from scratch, because none of the themes are meant for communities. Until now.
Introducing "Popular", a static site theme built especially for community & meetup groups, works in Hugo & Astro.

OMG why is tech still hard in 2026 🤕
My mother in law takes english lessons for new immigrants.
Taught by an english teacher who is not technical.
When he needs to send a class material that involves an audio file, he sends it via email as a Word doc attachment, and the MP3 audio file embedded inside the Word doc.
Mind. Blown.
I don't even know where to begin
My head hurts 😫
We can't open that MP3 file because we don't have a Windows that can open the word doc containing the MP3 file... 🤕
I'm filling in the form to apply for Claude for Open Source but it needs to access my GitHub account but because GitHub is down it couldn't access it and so I couldn't submit the form.
What a world in 2026.
Just used GitHub Stacked PR for the first time. Now wishing this existed a long time ago.

Even if your inside joke is funny to you, those new to your circle who didn't get it will feel stupid for a moment until you explain the joke to them, and they will still feel stupid for not understanding it in the first place.
In a community, inside jokes could be a thing that bonds the people on the inside together, but it can also be the thing that separates your newcomers from the rest of the group.
I want a static site generator that is Python-based. Is this possible, or even a reasonable expectation?
I really like the experience with frameworks like Hugo and Astro, but I wish I don't have to do npm install or go mod whenever changes is needed.
I know that Sphinx, Pelican, mynt exist/-ed, but these brought me more frustrations than joy 😥
9 years of Typo of the days. Maybe one day one of these will appear in the Urban Dictionary.

Achievement Unlocked. Claude hallucinated a response, and I told it to look up the correct answer in my blog post. (about django-allauth signup customization).
📣 We're recruiting Discord moderators for the Maintainers Summit at PyCon US 2026!
Looking for a few community-minded folks to help keep conversations friendly and respectful, answer newcomer questions, and make sure everyone in the room (and online) feels welcome and included.
If you've moderated for a community before, or want to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

Finally wrote my recap from PyCascades 2026!
Another 28 days later:
Package arrived but in passive aggressive way. They sent me a full set of wheels. (I only needed one!) 💀💀💀💀
Blueberry Mango Sorbet
I keep waiting for Claude to emit "reticulating splines" lol or is that trademarked?
No more going up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right on my calendar to find a time to meet.
My Secret Codes now has an app that shows my calendar availability.
And because this is 2026, Secret Codes also has its own MCP agent, so now your agent can talk to my agent.

For the agents: https://secretcodes.dev/agents
Read more about it in my blog post:
Woke up early to book a campsite through BC Camping website. No luck today :(
One second there were a dozens of available site. One millisecond later, everything is unavailable.
Will try again next week.
So weird. Back when I was PyCon US Chair, I would get spam solicitation emails about professional speakers offering their keynote, entities selling attendee email address, etc. All were ignored and marked as spam.
Now, even though I'm no longer the chair, I guess my email address was still leaked somewhere. They're still sending me spam solicitation emails but now all of these are about offering financing and loans to PyCon. 😟
Small batch of no spreadsheet sticker arrived!
Though I think I need to tweak the size 😅
But this is why I test print.
Consider this a "limited-edition"!
#LFNW is happening this weekend. I'm looking forward to it. Last year I gave two talks and also I staffed the PyLadies Vancouver booth the whole time.
This time I'm giving just one talk, which means I'll actually get to watch other talks. I already have a list of talks I'm interested in.
What's great is that you could just show up! No registration or ticketing. Just come.
