@darrelplant @mmasnick Yeah, "move fast and break things" is a tenet of our industry that I really wish would die. But, I'm unclear how to kill it. The market & investors reward the folks who get out there first & early and externalize as much risk & cost as possible to everyone but themselves. There's little profit & hype in holding back until you get it right. (Well, I guess Apple can kind of get away with that for gadgets, but that's a different story)

@demophoon@mastodon.brittg.com @shanselman@hachyderm.io Yes, but FYI: webfinger is mostly used as a lookup and initial locator for your profile When you change instances later and you update your webfinger resources, anyone who has already followed you will continue to follow you at the old instance. You’ll need to set a redirect on that old account to the new one (at least, on a Mastodon server. Your mileage may vary on others)

@jonathangulbrandsen@gigant.social I think they covered that in the blog post? You're linking to DIY self-repair resources. They mention that, but they want to have it done as covered by paid-for AppleCare coverage. Their local third-party repair shop can't / won't do it. And, performing self-repair is pretty much asking for warranty and AppleCare to be invalidated. @baldur@toot.cafe @dave@rascalking.com

@bea@infosec.exchange Part of me wants to express offense at this. But, that part is overruled by the other parts which can find no flaw in this statement.

@peteriskrisjanis@toot.lv Currently, I think that is a fraught question to which I don't think we can assume the answer - at least not in terms of whether it will be treated as illegal, regardless of actual laws @molly0xfff@hachyderm.io
