Any web #hosting company will rent you space on their servers.
At Henhouse Computing Cooperative, you *own* the server.
You also get a vote in how the service is run and share of any profits.
Now taking beta testers at https://henhouse.coop.

Almost every web hosting provider relies on Amazon, Google, or Microsoft infrastructure. We're creating Henhouse to operate on servers owned by small businesses and co-ops. And we made Henhouse a co-op, too! Learn more and contribute at https://opencollective.com/henhouse #bigtech
Greetings!
We are considering starting a cooperatively owned, democratically managed cloud computing service for values-driven organizations. Its working name is Henhouse. Our first service would be web hosting, followed by other computing services determined by member discussion and vote.
If this interests you, please complete our brief survey: https://nc.limeleaf.coop/apps/forms/s/MjksQf6xEsnJHGHqeoYwoAKG
Your input will help us understand market needs, competition, and pricing expectations. #coops #bigtech #DigitalAutonomy
We've got #Henhouse deployed to a live test environment and we've started testing it. So far everything is working as expected and we're keeping track of tweaks/bugs.
New site creations, assigning custom domains, and uploads are all working. All you really need for a static site provider.
We're building #HenhouseWebHosting in public and welcome contributions! If you want to help with coding and testing, or with reviewing our draft legal agreements, post in the comments. We will also take money at https://opencollective.com/henhouse/ 🙂 #buildinpublic

@esoterra@hachyderm.io It is exactly that to start with some UI around it for the non-technical folks who just want to upload a .zip through the dashboard. Static hosting was the low hanging fruit to start this endeavor. Over time we do want to build it into a true cloud services stack as a co-op.
We have too damn many social accounts at Limeleaf.
So, from today, we'll post all Henhouse.coop updates to our @limeleaf@social.coop account, but will tag the posts with #henhouse
Our new app, apply.coop, connects purpose-driven job seekers with values-driven workplaces. Beta runs through June 3rd. Job postings are FREE during Beta, use code SOLIDARITY during checkout. Visit https://apply.coop! #coops #solidarity
In honor of #MayDay, #Henhouse is open for beta testers. More info at https://henhouse.coop!
#henhouse needs $5k to register as a legal co-op, lease servers, and finish the customer portal. It's a small ask by design. We know how to stretch a dollar, and every dollar is publicly tracked at https://opencollective.com/henhouse. Get involved! #deGoogle #StaticHosting

Update! Limeleaf member @erik@straub.social found a fork of Mattermost that removes the 10,000 message limit. Problem solved: https://framagit.org/framasoft/framateam/mostlymatter/
