@dave There are plenty of projects using C++, especially in the #KDE ecosystem, which is almost entirely such. I haven't seen Calligra mentioned yet, KDE's office suite, which could perhaps use your skills https://calligra.org/ #cpp #cplusplus

Trying out the #COSMIC desktop environment again, looking nice! One thing I like about tiling is how easy it is to assemble a simple IDE from simpler applications 🙂

Mending Wall is now available as a #Flatpak on #Flathub! So you can try another #Linux desktop environment without breaking stuff.

@DarthAstrius@mastodon.social I also recommend sticking with apps that just store files in directories. Then you can use multiple frontends, with whatever features you need, and if everything disappears you still have your data, no export required! For example I use Nextcloud Notes. Its backend is just Markdown files in folders. I can share that between the Nextcloud notes Android app, and Iotas, Folio and Obsidian on my Linux desktop.

@stib@aus.social I use only a handful of AUR packages and am able to review the PKGBUILD meaningfully. For users who are unable or unwilling to do so, Flatpaks and Snaps are a safer choice in my opinion, as they run sandboxed. Users should still check the sandbox permissions and guidance on their software store of choice (e.g. Gnome Software or KDE Discover) before installing an app, but that requires less expertise than inspecting a PKGBUILD.
