@danirabbit@mastodon.online and that by itself is a vulnerability, because it narrows your scope and lets you be blindsided by things you ‘never saw coming’. Diversity makes communities stronger and more resilient, it’s not some luxury.

@rjblaskiewicz typewriters? Why not hand written? I know teachers who do 100% of writing assignments in class, with pen & paper.

@elena@aseachange.com Yeah, I've checked those. I just was a bit bummed out that I couldn't achieve the technological poetry of turning an ereader into a literary clock.

@elena@aseachange.com @pierre_pebble@mastodon.ie O, it still works fine as an ereader, just not as a generic-ish e-screen linux device, which I was hoping for.

@elena@aseachange.com @pierre_pebble@mastodon.ie I have a similar frustrating experience in trying to convert an old kindle into a literary clock. Couldn’t get it to work and now it seems like that gen4 kindle is ewaste 😢

@raynerlucas@mastodon.social @Foritus@toot.dusepo.co.uk won’t the net effect be that people get wise to its bullshit and start to ignore it, whereupon the ‘old’ and trusted support systems will regain their position? Meaning a lot of money disappeared into the pockets of ai vendors and their acolytes, with only an embarrassing legacy project to show for it. Which they then quietly and unceremoniously retire in ~5 years’ time.
