TFW the universe reminds you of not only how much better off you are after cutting someone off and walking away, but shows you exactly how far you've come.
Six years and counting today.

For Day Two of #Blaugust2026, I wrote about @belghast@gamepad.club, and what this festival of blogging means to me, and to many of us. https://kavmac.com/a-month-without-belghast/
Yesterday was a not so great day, capped off by some sad news about the passing of Lloyd Robertson. Naturally, I wrote about it for Day 4 of #Blaugust2026 (and Day 5 of #100DaysOfGaming getting a mention, too!) https://kavmac.com/runnin-on-empty/
I should really start scheduling my #Blaugust26 toots for non-midnight my time 😂🤣 but that would require me to be on top of my brain and put in extra effort.
So here is day three for the morning Eastern time zone crowd! https://kavmac.com/blaugust-2026-day-three-ark-survival-ascended/
Of course I picked the wrong hashtag for #Blaugust2026 for a few days. 🫠 But for the daytime crowd: yesterday’s post is live! https://kavmac.com/another-year-of-shenanigans/
I snuck this one in just under the wire: I kicked off #100DaysOfGaming 2026 today and wrote about it, too! https://kavmac.com/100-days-of-gaming-begins/
The babies succeeded in keeping me stuck on the couch last night well past my bedtime. 😼😻 #CatsOfMastodon
Every now and then, I tell myself that maybe I should consider not buying any more hoodies for myself. Today was not one of those days. 🙃
Another year of shenanigans, and I jumped back over to #7DaysToDie for Day 6 of #100DaysOfGaming - of course I wrote about it for #Blaugust2026 https://kavmac.com/another-year-of-shenanigans/
Today kicked off #Blaugust2026 and is Day 2 of #100DaysOfGaming and not only did I manage to throw some words at the screen, but I got some game time in, too! https://kavmac.com/blaugust-2026-almost-kicks-off/
Finally booked our first camping trip of the year! 🏕️
And that’s another long-form census completed for us! 😏
FUCKING FINALLY
Enjoying this #Caturday with the coziest of catnaps, as one does.

@auxonic@ottawa.place @stephanie@ottawa.place Yeah, which had me wondering if we got it cause we were in Ontario. It’s the dumbest thing, though. A proper alignment across the country on the important holidays should be a given. Family Day. T&R. Remembrance Day.
Spend time with your family (whatever that looks like), recognize the importance of T&R, recognize the sacrifices our veterans and active duty service people have made to keep us safe and free. It’s not rocket science, governments!!!

@stargrace@gamepad.club Apologies, I should’ve been more helpful with my suggestion! https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configure-startup-applications-in-windows-115a420a-0bff-4a6f-90e0-1934c844e473

@stargrace It would be really nice if the pricing in Canada was more reasonable. Which one are you able or forced* to get to accommodate everyone? *I don’t mean this in a bad way - I know Microsoft doesn’t make it reasonable for sharing within a household!
A few weeks ago some good friends convinced me to pick up #Icarus while it was on sale (right before Steam’s spring sale), and while I may have started over three times, I spent a very large amount of time this weekend playing (and not noticing the time 🤣).
I haven’t picked up any DLC or added mods yet, as I’m enjoying the base game as is right now. But damn, do I ever wish I had picked this game up sooner!

@vbarreirojr@gamepad.club Yeaaaaaah, I lost my level 24 mount to a polar bear and I was not prepared for the feelings I’d have. Thankfully I had one more at home, and have uhh five now to get by, but damn..

@TAV Ohhhh I missed that Sheryl Crow is coming to town! (Gwen’s apparently MAGA aligned or adjacent, which is really too bad. There always seems to be someone getting it wrong and disappointing those on the right side of history.)
If there was ever any doubt, I am incredibly proud of our Olympic athletes.
So very incredibly proud of our women’s Olympic hockey team. Proud of our men’s Olympic hockey team.
They need to do something about the bullshit reffing. If it was calls in our favour, there would be international outrage and our medals would be called into question.
@stephanie@ottawa.place I thought you’d get it based on the province you’re in.. I am pretty certain in all the years I worked for MBNA/TD that we got Family Day, and they’re federally regulated so followed federal holidays. Maybe my memory is a lie. 🤔 It’s dumb, either way, though. It should be a holiday for everyone.

@stargrace@gamepad.club Thank you!! Ripley decided to settle in further last night with couch snuggles before we went to bed, and I think my heart has healed the shattered pieces.

@stargrace@gamepad.club Might be worth adding it to Startup? Then you won’t have to worry about remembering to start it when you reboot.
What a fucking tragic joke.
A haus panther. A blue menace.
Our new chaos gremlins checking in for duty. 😼
Meet Marble & Ripley. 😻
What a fucking joke of a hockey tournament.

I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time lately with my test machine in my home lab, but had been enjoying EndeavourOS (I’m not gonna run Arch on a mini pc as much as I love it), so that’s what I tossed on this Latitude.
I think I’ve outgrown the out of the box XFCE experience, though, cause I’m not having fun with it (the desktop environment, not the laptop). It’s either that, or my brain is just ready to distro hop on a personal device and/or challenge myself again. 🙃
@stephanie@ottawa.place Wait. What?! Why don’t you have it? Are you based across the river?! 😭
FML left my AirPods at home 😭 gonna be a long ass in office day without them, but at least I brought some earbuds so I can still work in peace!
Day Three of #Blaugust26 was about, you guessed it! Day Four of #100DaysOfGaming 😏 https://kavmac.com/blaugust-2026-day-three-ark-survival-ascended/
