@mgorny I am fighting a lone battle in my department at work against use of AI tools due to the environmental impact. However from someone nowhere near technical enough to understand this completely. Is this post saying essentially that the crawling of the internet for input to ‘learn’ from by AI companies is clogging up the online world?

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us I think any new labour leader needs to be someone that is likely from the North. They need to be a voice the contrasts recent leaders. It is shallow but a regional accent will probably help them sound a bit more relatable to the voters that have lost in the last year.

@scribblanitea@cupoftea.social how long did the transit take? We are gradually turning our back lawn over to wildflowers. Started with one section and it has now spread to the main chunk of it. I love how each year different plants seem to take the lead. Have a good variety now. Agree loads more insect life too. Have really enjoyed how many ladybirds have made it their home.

2. Cliche I know but run your slow runs slower and your faster sessions faster. Appreciate it is way more nuanced than that but I think it is important.

Final point would be to enjoy it. Don’t worry about your pace. Don’t spend loads on gear immediately. Just get out and run.

@quixoticgeek@social.v.st I have always felt that it will end up in control rooms because it is likely cheaper than people answering calls. It is also easier to defend legally when things go wrong. If a call taker makes a mistake and someone dies the emergency service will likely pay out. If an AI tool cocks up there will be layers of insurance, Contracts etc etc to protect all concerned and making it easier to blame someone else and not pay out.
