Mr Trump, we know you're a convicted sexual assaulter and pathological liar, and generally just an asshole. But you're doing badly on this Iran business and inflation, which affects gas prices. Now we're pissed.

Welp, here in the USA, we're easing into the early income tax filing period. I've read that the Trump White House has killed the service that helped lower income taxpayers file their returns. But I'm still seeing the Free Fillable Forms link on irs.gov. If this is still accessible, I highly recommend y'all give that a look. My wife and I do not have simple tax returns ---five Schedule forms, and we have successfully used this method the last two or three years. It's worked very well.

RE: https://mastodon.world/@jeffowski/115974321408376157 I totally agree with your sentiment! This HR Mgr response is a fairy tale, though. They would never divert from the corporate line. They are there to justify management decisions well enough to keep the company from losing a lawsuit.

@julieofthespirits@kolektiva.social Let's not forget the propaganda engines that Trump/MAGA have that Hitler and Mussolini (and, incidentally, the USA) didn't have. Oh, and I would've said we don't want things at the early 1930s level. I'm including that era's USA fascist movement in the list of "fascist states". :( @jake2@kolektiva.social

@osnews@mstdn.social There's a cure for the "[it's] too much work" perspective: Don't use it. There's no need to comment beyond that. Really.

I wonder how long it's going to take to convince enough MAGA folks that the story they've been fed that "there are massive numbers of hardened criminals here illegally in the USA from other countries" is bullshit. At least enough of them to make change in gov't possible. What I've seen as far more likely? Women and children and grandparent-aged folks forcibly taken into custody and shipped to a prison far removed with their homes. Most worked normal jobs and simply minded their own business.

@anthropy What this highlights in my mind is just how straight forward, well documented, and reliable the #Fedora upgrade process is. I used #Debian stable for several years on my personal computers, and I did not have a similar experience with upgrades on it. It is true, though, that those only happened every two years.

@HagenDomaschke When you write Fedora, do you mean Fedora Workstation? Or Fedora KDE Plasma? I only ask because, for f42, the former uses the new WebUI-based installer while the latter is still using the Anaconda one. Thanks! @colognella

@confluency Thanks for this detailed response! I understand that many of the browsers are forks of Firefox. I mean, that applies to Tor Browser, Mullvad Browser, Gnu IceCat, and others. That that list includes LibreWolf doesn't make the latter a problem. I think it's quite possible for a group of developers, who almost certainly have more knowledge and experience than I do, to create a reasonable fork. I need that so that I can jettison Firefox. I don't need the AI, and I don't want it.

@jschauma Sometimes staying as close to upstream as Fedora developers do can cause some (minor) headaches. This is not one of those times. Fedora updated to 6.19.12 on 4-16.
