I'm just a @pluralistic@mamot.fr re-toot account now:

"Vultures live off the disgusting, rotting crap that would otherwise pile up around us, breeding disease and emitting an unbearable stench. If plaintiff-side, no-win/no-fee lawyers are vultures, then junk fees, wage theft, and the million petty frauds they fight are the disgusting, rotting crap that vultures feed off of – and the harder we make it for our noble vulture lawyers, the more disgusting, rotting crap we have to live with, hence the unbearable stench that is all around us."

"This is the defective reasoning that caused Comrade Trump to hormuz the world into the full Gretacene. Whereas once the case for the energy transition was driven by activists who warned people about the future consequences of inaction, Trump has summoned up a new army of people who are worried about the present consequences of inaction: such as not being able to drive your car, use your gas stove, or fertilize your crops. Trump has summoned up another army of people, who are worried about the politics of oil, the fact that oil leads to wars and can be mobilized as a weapon when it is withheld from your country."

Seeing a lot of takes from libs being like "seee you can vote out fascism." the difference between the US and Hungary is that in Hungary the opposition has promised to burn the fascists to the ground, roll back all of their policies, and subject them to prosecution domestically and internationally. In the US, the opposition is promising to send more fundraising emails and continue funding a genocide. Everything else will be declared impossible because of procedure.

Last year, rode the Hilly Hundred here in Indiana, it's a 2 day ride, ~50 miles each day, lot's of southern Indiana hills (steep and long). I ended up being terrified of the descents.

Just now watched a video of a mountain biker eat shit after going full send in Utah and feel justified in my fear.

Use ai tools! Generate thousands of lines of code! You have to now review and sign off on those lines of code and if you fuck up it’s your ass! The ai is blameless. https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/03/after-outages-amazon-to-make-senior-engineers-sign-off-on-ai-assisted-changes/

Tech workers need unions now more than ever. Don’t be a human crumple zone.

Just finished the book Murderlands after hearing an interview with the author on 99% Invisible. It's a memoir that overlays a period of horrible environmental destruction and devastation with the serial killer epidemic from the 1960s through the 1980s.

The amount of toxic waste that was pumped into the air (lead, arsenic, etc etc) around these smelter compounds is mind blowing. Measured in tons per day. A lot of the North American smelters have been shut down. Where have we moved these negative externalities?

P.S. I'd skip the book because the author chose to spend a good deal of time graphically describing the crimes of Bundy, Rader, Ridgeway, Ramirez, et al and I really didn't need that in my brain.

Remember when Apple added that stupid fucking U2 album to all of our devices without our consent?

Yeah, it's still on all of my shit and still is the default "play music" album when I send a play command to my device and it's lost the playback context from whatever I wanted to play.

Threw some data at an LLM to answer a question.

Mostly because I'm tired of being on the ideologic end of libs punching left.

Even if *EVERY* third party voter in 2024 had voted for Harris... she still would have lost the election because electoral college. She would narrowly edged out the popular vote, but on a state by state basis it only narrows her electoral college loss.

Feel free to smash this into the eyes of ye old shit libs crying about protest votes.

Election Recalculation: Harris Gains Popular Vote

Based on the data provided by the American Presidency Project for the 2024 election, here is the recalculation of the results if 100% of the "OTHERS" votes were allocated to Kamala Harris. Summary of the Recalculated Results Even if Kamala Harris had received every single third-party and write-in...

Schneier on Security

Chilling Effects - Schneier on Security

Younger Americans have soured on the second Donald Trump presidency, but they are not protesting it. Despite an unpopular Iran war and an even more unpopular Trump administration, college campus protests nationwide have gone silent. And at many schools, student activism is virtually nonexistent. This silence comes in the wake of a relentless Trump administration war on campus speech that has involved lawsuits, arrests, deportations and expulsions. Reports cite a range of complicated factors for

I wasn't clear in my communication... I meant with regards to government jobs he specifically called out make work jobs that resulted from full employment policy jobs guarantees in command economies (soviet union).

I understand that this was not the only class of bullshit jobs discussed, but it was definitely discussed in the book.
