I love setting up low voltage garden lighting. Apart from the hassle of running cable, connections, moisture and drilling a hole to connect to the transformer inside, it is kind of like putting Lego together. The light on the fence in the background is running of a battery with a solar panel to charge it. The bms includes a variable time delay in hours past sunset, so no tweaking required from season to season. #lowvoltage #garden #solar

I have just made the delicious sounding (and about to be sampled) lemon myrtle and finger lime shortbread, created by @gomichild@aus.social. I have lemon myrtle trees but not the time to dry the leaves, so I had to buy a packet, but I did dehydrate some finger limes donated by my neighbour, and ground them. I did not have a stamp so I just attacked the shortbread rounds with a tea scoop thingy! The recipe is available here https://www.skool.com/food-cooking-2213/classroom/b6667110

Sometimes the internet delivers! My 10 year old #bosch dishwasher has a problem that looks likely to be a faulty heat pump. A quick search with #vivaldibrowser using startpage turned up, a written how to replace, and even better, a real person video showing step by step replacement. The pump part cost is about 25% of the cost of a new dishwasher and having a repair person do the job would probably be 50% of the cost. So now the decision comes down to fixing it myself or new replacement! Hmm.

@corduroy@aus.social Thanks Josh. I send my GW1003 data to weathercloud.net and not ecowitt.net. I would change that to ecowitt.net but I cannot access the gw1003 over my vpn (I am away in Perth at the moment) so I cannot change it. The gw1003 does this occasionally however it is still alive as the weathercloud.net data is being updated! I will try out your app when I return.

Dogs are so special. We have been back in Coco’s life for a few days after looking after her last in 2024. Complete trust and lots of affection, and it is close to meal time!😋 #dogsofmastodon #papillondogs

What a beautiful jumping #spider. The colours and jumping ability of these spiders are something else.

Managed to get a clear photo of the waning gibbous (97% full according to willy weather) #moon this morning just on sunrise so less hassle with brightness!

I can still remember TripleJ announcing his untimely death! I still find his version of Hallelujah the best, and he was a fan of Led Zeppelin! Going to have to listen to Grace end to end now. 🥺

@spacelizard I agree. How they balance on such a relatively small diameter cable is impressive. For some reason, the power feed to our house from the pole across the road was the path of choice. They would then run across the roof, down the backstairs and on to wherever they were going. Sometimes I would see them crossing upside down, so I guess they weren’t always so sure footed!

@dcbuchan@aus.social not sure but for my garden lights, that seems to occur when moisture gets into the cable.

@joe yes, and sometimes the headline has a very tenuous, imho, link to the content in the story. And then there is headline rotation! Sigh!

I would not recommend this crimping tool . Compared to the yellow handled front entry tool, this one is difficult to use. Getting the RJ45 plug into the head to crimp is a struggle which is the critical point in crimping. The orientation of the yellow handled tool seems to be better as well. #cat6 #ethernet

@Pepijn hmm, so the used 6TB I replaced in my DS716 a few years ago, might be worth something! Sorry to say I am a bit far away from you (Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia)! I have others I should check out as well! Every cloud has a silver lining. 😊

@spacelizard all of ours have gone! The golden colour in the web is spectacular. I do have a common garden orb spider, the one that hides during the day, who is still there, despite the occasional web destruction, some three months later.

Hi @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social. A while ago you posted a link to a Oz site with a wonderful take on the current guy in the Whitehouse. Would you please reshare as I want to enjoy it again and share with some folks who are suffering directly from his quirks!

Some local birds. It is unusual to see an egret(?) outside a local cafe. The pied butcher birds (my mates) come down whenever I mow or disturb the ground cover.

@corduroy@aus.social Hi Josh. I suspect my Ecowitt, a GW1003, would not be supported by your app as it does not serve up json? I previously had setup a container which supplied a php script the GW1003 called to export out the weather details. I know newer models do provide a json api, but the GW1003 and the sensors are working fine, so it is hard to justify the cost. Currently the GW1003 exports to weathercloud.
