Something difficult about having an ADHD brain is that you see links and connections that no one else gets. You assume everyone sees the same as you, but often find out much later that they don't. #ADHD

I'm working on a new "world" for a new D&D sandbox campaign. I'm aiming for a gentler, simpler world with streamlined lore. There's limited strife between people, but lots of dangerous wilderness, ancient ruins, and a primordial evil that spreads corruption. #TTRPG #DnD

Tonight in D&D we were a player down, so we opened a new chapter with the start of Bear River Adventures. 4 players, the iconic classes - fighter (dragonborn), cleric (aasimar), rogue (tiefling), and wizard (gnome). The game started in an inn, and ended at the mouth of a cave on a hunt for the "pale lady". #TTRPG #DnD #DungeonsAndDragons

Hey, Linux perverts; if you want mainstream normies to use your OS you need to make it a LOT easier to install. I am happy torrenting an ISO, checking the hashes, flashing a USB stick, and all of other nonsense because I am a greybeard nerd. Most folks? Not so much. It's got to get easier or it will only ever be a niche of a niche. #Linux

Something neurotypicals will never understand:
"I bought you a shirt!"
"Ah, so sorry, I don't like it."
"But it's just like that other shirt that you wear all the time!"
"No, no it's not, see...[monologue ensues]"

New EV charger installed on Wednesday. Switched to a "smart tariff" Thursday morning. Instant savings. Bit weird that if the car is plugged in the charger goes on and off at random, but the price per kWh is ⅖ what it was, less from 1st April. We also get cheap overnight power so the dishwasher and washing machine get scheduled. There is some really smart stuff happening with energy management, it's just a shame that it needs up front investment so is out of reach for so many. #EV #green

I'm even leaving the torrenting software open in an attempt to get to a 1.0 ratio. Not likely but not heavy on resources for the next few days.

Duvduv, duvduvduv, duddaduv

At the risk of sounding insufferably smug now really is the time to start thinking about owning an EV, getting solar panels (even portable ones), and possibly a battery. For day to day use, relying less on fossil fuels is good sense. #EV #green #FossilFuels

Retailers, stop asking customers to review EVERY PRODUCT. How can I write a review for a £4 pack of brackets? Instead, ask the customer if the product met expectation. Three "scores"; did not meet, met, exceeded. If high or low offer a short list of "why"; quality, price, appearance, plus other which allows free text. That's it. 10 seconds to complete. Then show a score of "92% of customers said this product met or exceeded their expectation". The second part is useful for you. #UX #eCommerce

This makes me simultaneously sad and angry. Exactly what am I being "protected" from by the Online "Safety" Act? I know itch.io are doing this so they don't have to introduce age verification, but what did the UK government expect to achieve?

Really bizarre situation with Pixelfed. I cannot use either the official or third party apps to add a new post on pixelfed.social but the web interface works fine. #pixelfed

Why does an English council website have a cookie consent banner listing 991 vendors seeking to use their "legitimate interest" to pillage my personal data? 🤔

Pissed-Up Pete has fired the head of the US army. The only reason I can think of is that he was standing in the way of sending ground troops into Iran. This is not a good development.

Big rocket go whee! 😁
NASA video production boo. ☹️

I'm supposed to be at a wedding in Egypt at the end of May. Flights booked, but everything is on hold because of the Tangerine Toddler's tantrum of terror. First world problems, given so many are losing lives and homes, but it speaks to the impact on the wider region, even those who are not involved.

Some person called Blunt had been arrested for drug offences? How could we have known!

Fuck me AO dot com are absolute shit.

Planning a family cinema trip. The Showcase Cinemas website has a large banner that says "A booking fee of £2.50 per transaction applies". Why are you skimming an extra £2.50 on your own website? The cost per transaction on the web is less than in-person. You should be encouraging people to book this way!

This is why we need strong legislation on length of support, notice periods for shutdown, and the opening up of closed system after support is withdrawn.

Oh no! The baggage reclaim belt has stopped. There are two aircrafts worth of folks standing around waiting...

Been on the motorhome roof scraping off old sealant and refilling joints. Had multiple neighbours walk by and have chats with me. Bit weird talking to folks from 3 meters in the air!

Did my weekly shop in Tesco this evening. By 7pm they had blocked a third of the aisles with trolleys loaded with items to be put out on shelves later. Rather than get one out at a time and empty it they just line them all up. Makes passing other customers difficult and it's hard to access some shelves. Wheelies would be SOL. I mentioned it at customer service on the way out but I don't think they take it seriously.

Put some tools away in the tiny shed today. A year or so ago I cleared it out and reorganised the contents. Took a picture. Posted it with the caption "look on my works ye mighty and despair". Sure enough, today, it's a mess again.

My partner often shares Instagram videos with me. I'm surprised how many are just rips from other sources reposted. No desire or interest in copyright control at Facebook of course. That might slow the flow of money.

Had new blinds fitted. Old blinds had automation via a Somfy hub. Stripped the motors and batteries from the old blinds which work fine. Wonder what I could do with them...

As a kid I was desperate to be an astronaut. Then I grew up to be 1.93 meters tall so stuffing me in a ballistic cigar tube was never going to be practical.

Ludicrously expensive foldy phone went fut, but it was within warranty so got replaced with the latest model. Needed a new case. Bought one from Bellroy. Nice! But they used Evri to deliver it... 🙄

It's not a social media ban for under 16's. It's a total denial of access to any multi-user service.

New coffee machine update; I probably should have replaced the old one some years ago.

To design software at a technical level is to choose. By choosing one solution over another you have to accept the possibility that you are closing off options as much as you are expanding them.

That thing where nuanced rules become ironclad as they travel across borders. Today it's "no batteries in hold luggage". The rule is no power packs or loose batteries in the hold, but here it's interpreted as no batteries at all.

This article made me smile! Also, who thinks the inside of a blue whale is a good place for horizontal gymnastics?

I have just discovered "Armored MMA". It's MMA, but with fighters in full mediaeval armour armed with longswords. 🤯

At the dry ski slope while kid toboggans with Scouts. He's the only one wearing an item of clothing that isn't black, white, grey, or blue. What happened to colour in teenagers clothing?

It is definitely completely normal for the President of The United States of America to use this kind of language and nothing to be concerned about at all.

Middle East crisis live: Trump uses expletive-ridden social media post to threaten Iran’s infrastructure https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2026/apr/05/middle-east-crisis-live-iran-israel-us-war-trump-strait-hormuz-missing-pilot-downed?CMP=share_btn_url&page=with%3Ablock-69d252ff8f080da25b48b6e3#block-69d252ff8f080da25b48b6e3

It's 30 years since Primitive Radio Gods released Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand. It only tickled the lower reaches of the chart but I remember being blown away when I first heard it on the radio. It turned me into a lifelong PRG fan. I still wonder what might have been had their second album launched as originally planned.

HTML/JS grid component that hasn't been updated since 2014. 🫪 It hasn't been MIT licensed since then either. That'll need sorting.

Conventional? Or nuclear?

There it is. Confirmation that the "establishment" is out to nobble this law. Imagine senior people in public service having to actually tell the truth! This isn't about football, it's about how the country is run.

Anecdotally, folks locally seem to be filling their petrol and diesel powered cars from the cheapest available source "just in case". This could lead to localised shortages. Which in turn could lead to panic buying creating a vicious cycle. There are no supply chain issues at present, and if there were I expect the government would limit supply.

Also, this is why we need to shift to EV's sooner rather than later.

An email to tell me that the store attached to an "app" I use is down for maintenance. Estimated return to service is in 3-days. 😳 I'm embarrassed for them.

Advert on Facebook Marketplace; gaming chair, barely used, good condition. Wife took teenager to collect. Dirty, worn, and used by cats as a scratching post. Why do folks waste your time and theirs when they know you are going to see through the lies straight away?

Still feels weird to scroll my Masto feed on an e-ink display.

Tip for first time London Underground railway travellers; the Northern Line, despite the name, does not go to Yorkshire OR Lancashire.

"offer expires 12:59 a.m." No it doesn't, because that time exists nowhere. 🙄
