Fine-tuned my 5G reception by getting both flu and Covid vaccinations today.
We made this chocolate cake the other day and it is probably one of the best chocolate cakes I’ve ever had. It is flourless — and made with black beans. Absolutely bonkers how good it is. So moist. https://www.thepancakeprincess.com/flourless-black-bean-chocolate-cake-gluten-free/
Is it bad to point out that most of the PHP.net infrastructure was moved to Digital Ocean?
Someone used my Linode referral code to sign up, which means I got a $25 credit, which would have been nice if I hadn't stopped using Linode two years ago.
It’s not every day that you see a Black woman with a swastika tattoo, but Los Angeles is a rich tapestry.
I have some questions about how this turned out.
Oh no, I’m being subjected to withering sarcasm, how will I get through my day.
Here for opening night at the #HollywoodBowl, Broadway Night. We were so aggressively on time that we were the first people up to our level of seating.
Trimmed my beard, got a haircut, didn’t magically fix my life. Oh well, at least now my face itches and my head is cold.
Just noticed that blo.gs is no longer online, now it just redirects to wordpress.org. Another dead link in my résumé.
We just opened the job listing for another mid/sr. full-stack engineer at the startup where I'm the director of engineering. It's a hybrid position, so you'll need to be able to come into the office in Santa Monica at least three days per week. Tech stack is Next.js and Python/Django.

I think about this sort of thing all the time, particularly in wondering about how small of a Linux environment I could put together. I am sure most of that is just chasing old highs.
But I have no space in my life for computer-related hobbies right now.
Sometimes you have to blog a little bit of code so that future you will remember it, or be able to find it again. http://trainedmonkey.com/2026/09/21/compact_table_names_with_django_rapid
Trying to come up with side hustle that I could work 10-12/hours month to pay for medical bills and the occasional Dodgers tickets. I guess here's an Upwork profile for now. https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~01be060a532ece41c9
I came to this very late for someone who moved to #DTLA over 20 years ago in part due to Grand Central Market, but the tacos at Tacos Tumbras a Tomas are an incredible value. $5 for a taco that is a meal by itself. https://grandcentralmarket.com/vendor/tacos-tumbras-a-tomas/
Our washer/dryer was showing an error message after running. The error message describes a drain error. It's being shown on a seven-segment LCD display. There's a different error message that shows as “dE” that indicates a door error. Is the error code for the drain error "OE" or "DE”?
It's too bad computer prices have gotten stupid and I don't have spare cash. It would be really nice to get something to do local development on that is in-between my Raspberry Pi 4 and the Dell PowerEdge T30 under my desk.
(I should really try to sell that T30.)
