@llvm@fosstodon.org Thoughts like this aren't new, but I just can't get talks presenting them accepted at US conferences so they never circulate that widely over here. Fortunately for me there's always #FOSDEM in europe:

Talking about #TPM2 again at a new venue #scale23x

https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/23x/presentations/enhancing-tpm-security-linux-kernel

I don't think they record but I promise to do a blog post really soon about how to use the exported null name to verify the #TPM in your booted OS is secure.

And for completeness, here's a pointer to my #FOSDEM talk in the #kernel track taking a modern look at secure boot

https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/XVLRTK-a_modern_look_at_secure_boot/

Apologies again, for taking too long with the explanations and running out of time to do the demo.

Replying to
@pinskia@hachyderm.io @vathpela@infosec.exchange @karolherbst@chaos.social I think you missed some nuance here: you can break stuff as long as no-one notices. In some ways that's why we don't have a test explosion: we don't want to get locked to something because a test notices but no real users do.

Linux Plumbers Conference

The Linux Plumbers Conference (LPC) is a developer conference for the open source community. The LPC brings together the top developers working on the plumbing of Linux - kernel subsystems, core libraries, windowing systems, etc. - and gives them three days to work together on core design problems. The conference is divided into several working sessions focusing on different plumbing topics, as well as a general paper track.

Replying to
@dentangle @onepict @austriancoder @linuxplumbersconf I think there's a misunderstanding: Plumbers has remote presentations, so no-one is required to commit to attending when they submit.

@LaF0rge I tried to begin the explanation here https://lore.kernel.org/all/e7d548a7fc835f9f3c9cb2e5ed97dfdfa164813f.camel@HansenPartnership.com/ But I'm a bit hamstrung because the legal document isn't yet public

Replying to
@onepict @austriancoder @linuxplumbersconf It's currently a bit far out to make definitive predictions, but assuming nothing changes in the meanwhile, the Health and Safety information will likely be the same as last year: https://lpc.events/event/17/page/199-health-safety

Replying to
@LaF0rge the problem with your analysis is that while we may understand how a community works, the Treasury (sanctions enforcer) doesn't. It operates on the assumption that employees always act at the direction of their employer, and that every organization behaves like a corporation.

My Main track talk at #FOSDEM has now published it's video:

https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/9QVUEC-strategy_for_trusting_your_employer_in_open_source_a_historical_approach/

As ever, I really enjoyed my time at the conference and can't thank the organisers enough for allowing me to present somewhat controversial (but hopefully interesting) viewpoints that don't get traction at other conferences.

Replying to
@jwp its supposed to render white on black. However it's a presentation, so it wants to render longer than it is tall. Plus most mobile browsers don't have all the CSS and JavaScript to render it
