I have to show off this absolutely unreal quetzal I had the pleasure of seeing in person. Otherwise I don't know if I could have been convinced that it wasn't stuffed animal.

My guide to Mastodon! Simple stuff, but not necessarily obvious (to me at least).
- Follow with reckless abandon! Follow lots of hashtags. Fill your feed!
- Make a list with folks you especially enjoy
Then prune:
- Mute with reckless abandon!
- Block assholes
- Filter phrases and hashtags
*Advanced*
- Hide someone's boosts without muting if you don't want to miss their posts.
- Make a list with news, etc. and then hide list members from your home feed to reduce noise/stress.

@wav3ydave@mas.to Lol, that's almost what happened to us. On the way to our lodging our driver was like "it's the afternoon so they won't be out, but I'll show you where you can look in the morning... Oh there's one!" Then we never saw another the rest of the trip.

@chris@coffeebean.social Seriously! I don't remember hearing any sounds, unfortunately. I did get to see it gracefully fly away in a brilliant green streak after watching it for 5-10 minutes though :)

@wav3ydave@mas.to Right? Glad you got to see one too! We got really lucky with how photogenic it was. Such an unbelievable creature.
