Now that we've secured a sitter, and tickets, I'm so excited to say I'll be going to see The Descendants and The Chats in Berkeley tonight. Best I can tell they announced yesterday morning? Bananas.

I have switched to totally self-hosted email! Annoying! I'm happy about de-googling one more thing in my life.
I have a mail transfer agent on a dirt-cheap hetzner node. My home server connects to that via wireguard and all interesting decisions happen at home, inboxes and SMTP are only accessible via wireguard too
The only thing I expose to the internet is receiving mail, which feels good.
I already had hardware but over my lifetime I expect the TCO of owning to be lower than renting
The year is 2026 and I am finally trying to be my own mail transfer agent and mail server. Starting with a throwaway domain but I want to get deliverability to the big providers and then get off of Gmail for my personal stuff. Party like it’s 1999 (+dmarc and spf and domain reputation like credit reporting…..)
