I want to play Battlefield 6 and Rainbow Six Sieg, but it doesn't work on my Linux computer using Proton or any other compatibility layer. It also doesn't work on my Steamdeck. So, I'm either forced to build a new PC with Windows or buy a PlayStation 5.

I guess I'll stick with #Steamdeck verified/playable games...

@hyc@mastodon.social Interesting.. As a user of Redhat IDM, All I can say that it's pretty freaking terrible. 389DS is always the bottleneck, it just can't handle that many requests. Also, it seems like that 389DS has a memory leak bug every other week.. lol

@AmbitiousProcess@piefed.social @Warl0k3@lemmy.world I use Kagi as my primary search engine for almost 2 years now and it's really good! I started to use the Kagi assistant recently to explain complex concepts to me and I like it. I love how it links me to sources. When I'm using a LLM tool, like Kagi's assistant, I want to learn about the topic, I don't use it for quick answers. A lot of people are just against 'AI'/LLM's, and I hate it too when it's being shoved into my face. But consensual LLM's are just another tool that I utilize to learn about something.

@TeflonTrout@beige.party @1password@1password.social To elaborate a little more; automation always helped people to write better and more code. LLMs are just the next generation of automation tools. Besides writing code, in my experience it can help engineers understand and learn about certain topics. I believe engineers who effectively integrate LLMs into their workflow will be more productive and produce better code compared to those who don't. This is similar to how using Ansible for automation helps with faster and more reliable builds, or how auto completion in an IDE improves code quality. Furthermore, the entry barrier into IT, engineering, and coding fields has considerably lowered, which I consider a positive development.

The so-called agile and the 'ship fast and break things' mentality broke a lot of projects and companies. Maybe #Microsoft finally realized that that is not a way to make a great project or product. No one is waiting for broken features and AI crap in their products. I really hope that they can fix Windows with K2, but I'm not sure though. At the end, big money will always win.

@jorge exactly! Most people don’t care about operating systems, they just want to get things done and move on. It’s our job to make systems that are simple to use, reliable and usable for the specified task. In this case; gaming.

So-called agility and the corporate tech mentality of 'ship fast, break things' ruined a lot of projects and companies. Maybe #Microsoft is finally realizing that it destroyed a whole community and fan base, and people are not waiting for AI nonsense and broken parts in their systems. I hope that they can turn it around with Windows K2, but I know that at the end of the day money will win.

I sold my Bambu Lab printer to afford a bigger model. I'll need to think about the new purchase for a bit longer.. 🤔

I'll put up $10,000 to teach bambu labs a lesson

@1password@1password.social Actually, a good summary of the lessons. From the business and engineering perspectives, I have a few questions; How do you measure ROI? When is it advantageous for engineers to leverage LLMs, when would it be more beneficial to hire a new FTE? Finally, how do you maintain engineer motivation, especially when LLMs can handle a significant portion of their work? And how do you ensure a consistent influx of junior engineers while also fostering their continued learning? At the end of the day, LLMs are trained by data created by engineers. No engineers left == no data for LLMs to train. Compared to others in the comments, I'm actually happy to see how you think about using LLMs within the organization.
