IFR (she/her)
I’m just keeping on pushing my rock and looking for peace in the struggle, rather than the victory.
How about a #pupdate? #WillowTheSprocker is now 14 weeks old and had her second vaccinations today. Only a week to go before she can explore the outdoors.
She now weighs a touch over 6kg. Growing fast and training very well indeed.
#WillowTheSprocker is now 4 months old. This is her on our walk up to The Old Man of Mow this morning.
Finished a baby blanket today. Baby is due next month so this time I’m ahead of the game.
Yarn is Hobbii Rainbow 8/8 100% cotton.
Pattern is a variation of this: https://youtu.be/QajeSqoQufw with an envelope border.
Preparing to watch the #superbowl alongside this new addition to the household.
This is Willow. She is a 10 week old #Sprocker. She’s been here precisely three hours and is currently asleep in her crate. It’s going far better than anticipated so far!
Now for a #Seahawks win, following a #MCFC win earlier and we can officially call it A Good Day.
These two never fail to make me smile. We went for a walk this afternoon in the Spring sunshine, which also makes me smile. ☀️
A two mile walk along the #MacclesfieldCanal for #WillowTheSprocker and I this week. She is now 4 months old and the #training continues each day. She’s now walking off the lead in places like this and her recall is fantastic - although I’ll admit I haven’t yet tested it with the distraction of other dogs, and I still put her back on the lead when other people approach.
#WillowThePuppy is now 11 weeks old and life is good. I’ve had her for 8 days and so far we have nailed crate training, toileting outside only, sit, wait, come, leave it, follow, and recall to the whistle. Oh, and ‘break’, which is essentially code for ‘well done you can stop the previous command’.
She waits on command for her food too, which I’m super happy about given how food oriented she is!
We’ve been out in the car every day getting her used to that, and have parked up in various car parks for 15 minutes at a time with us both sitting in the open boot getting her used to cars, trains, people and… shopping trolleys. 😁
She’s officially a Good Girl.

Took The Boy to #gymnastics this morning where he was awarded his level 3 badge. Celebrated with a Subway afterwards. He was pretty proud of himself… and super cute too.
I took #WillowTheSprocker to the vet this morning and the vet commented on how very well trained she is, and said she was the best behaved #spaniel she’d ever seen in the surgery. I was super proud.
She is five months old today.
A month ago, it was all about how great Arsenal are and what an awful season City were having.
Then we beat them in the League Cup final, and then the Premier League, and now all of a sudden those voices have gone very quiet.
It was all about Arsenal and their chance at the quadruple. It’s all gone quiet over there.
The only thing that’s decided is the League Cup. But we’re still in contention for a treble here, and there is only one certainty: We are #City and we fight til the end.
Mum is having cataract surgery today. I’ve just video called her “So I can see you before you look like a pirate.”
Relax and downplay is the way. 🙂
Calling an emergency Mental Health Act assessment on a Saturday night often presents a challenge. Trying to get two on-call Consultant Psychiatrists and an AMHP to agree to turn out to assess someone isn’t the easiest thing, believe me. Even more challenging when the patient is not known to services and has no mental health history.
So when the AMHP called me back within 30 minutes to say they were about to go and assess my patient I was grateful and relieved.
And then I was chuffed when she told me Dr S had asked who had requested the assessment and when she told him it was me he replied “Ah okay. This patient will be unwell. She is a very good nurse.”
So that was nice.
They detained my patient under the MHA, agreeing with my initial assessment of her and need for emergency intervention.
She’s now in hospital. Safe.
A positive outcome for sure, although I’m certain she doesn’t see it that way right now. :(
I binge watched season one of #ThePitt yesterday and today and thoroughly enjoyed it. The entire season covers one day, with each episode covering an hour of that day. It’s good. I liked it.
Also pleased to see how well Noah Wyle’s medical career has progressed since starting as a medical student in #ER thirty years ago. 😁
Today is Ella’s birthday.
I miss her.
Fuck COVID.
#WillowTheSprocker is now 5 months old and proved her #spaniel genetics today by trotting up to me carrying a dead duck in her mouth while we were walking along the canal. She looked so proud of herself, the duck swinging by its neck as she ran around with it.
This did wonders for my #necrophobia, obviously. Not.
All the work we’ve been doing on “drop it” was completely useless when I really really really needed it to work. Apparently a real dead duck is far more exciting than the toys we’ve practiced with, and much more appealing than the treats I had with me too.
So that’s walks along the towpath off the agenda for a while then.
(I do feel I need to qualify that she didn’t actually kill the duck. The poor thing was long dead before she found it.)
In non puppy related news, I seem to have become an absolute liability.
I fell down the last four stairs last Wednesday, and bruised both my arm and arse lower back. (Don’t worry, only the arm #bruise is shared.) Then today, I managed to bruise my little finger by clapping my hands together, once.
I think I may be officially #old. Can I retire now?
In last night’s adventures of a #mentalhealth #nurse, I spent four hours standing in the cold and rain trying to engage with a person who was on a railway bridge whilst they were heavily intoxicated by illicit substances.
There was a multi-agency response. Six in total. We had to close the road and stop the trains. On the West Coast Mainline. The BTP chap told me the closure of the line cost just north of £100,000.
I don’t think I’ve warmed up yet.
The Boy is having a sleepover tonight. On the way here I asked him which bedroom he would like to sleep in. His old room, or the one with the big bed.
“Well grandma, it’s quite complicated…” he began.
He’s four. When did he start using four syllable words?
Slow down, Boy. Slow down.
I wondered earlier this evening if the sniggering glee I experience when thinking about United’s search for yet another manager is the same as they felt when we went through similar turmoil in the 80-90s.
I suspect so.
Not laughing anymore are you, shitheads. 😂
In non-puppy related news, I’ve just cooked three hard boiled eggs in the #airfryer. No water involved so I don’t know what to call them now really.
Seriously contemplating getting rid of my oven and hob at the moment, and discovering I can do boiled #eggs in the air fryer is another tick in the ‘get rid’ column.
170°C for 12 minutes on air fry, in case you’re interested. Literally put the eggs on the grill plate in the bottom of the basket. No water. (8 mins for soft boiled)
The off-lead walking is going well!
So in tonight’s not-very-exciting adventures of a #MentalHealth #nurse, I went out to conduct an emergency assessment of a lady tonight who gestured for me to take a seat on her couch. The couch was covered in a blanket. I thanked her and sat down.
It took about 15 seconds for me to think the seat was a bit damp, but I didn’t want to offend her and stayed where I was.
It was probably three minutes later that the odour reached me and I realised I was sitting on a blanket soaked with cat pee. The cat then appeared from behind the couch and gave me side-eye as it strutted past me. I moved along the couch slightly, but the damage was done.
After the assessment was completed, I returned to the office and spent the remaining eight hours of my shift stinking of cat piss.
So that was my fun Sunday night. How was yours?
