@cryptica@retro.pizza There's the #mechaComet over on kickstarter. It's not really designed as a phone-first device, but there's an option to have a built in lte modem. I'll bet someone will come along to create a software dialer for it.
best part is it's true linux, not some sort of frankenstein linux-ized android like the #flx1
i've come to a few conclusions after watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuNB4ocZDXA
I think #linuxmobile as it currently stands, is doomed to fail. Barring an unforseen miracle, it will never be feasable to develop an open and secure platform using non-open, insecure mobile chipsets.
I think we need to change course. We can't compete against modern smartphones, so let's stop trying to. Let's make something of our own, even if it will never have the same level of complexity. we need a foundation
@Alviro@mastodon.uno @linux The real comet looks nothing like this ai generated image. Why didn't you just use an official image from their website or something?
I'm curious why #Linuxmobile has had such a difficult time getting, off the ground. There's progress, sure, but it often feels like there are more projects failing than there are starting. #pinephone pro comes to mind.
in the mean time, I've decided to separate my mobile computing into two devices instead of one single smartphone. A dumbphone for calls and texts, and a linux PDA for everything else.
@cryptica@retro.pizza dunno if they are. Why isn't it what you're look ng for if you don't mind ellaborating?
