Overheard my first "samui desu ne" in the elevator this morning. Meanwhile I'm standing in front of them, still in shorts and short-sleeves.

Of course we invented machines to tell us what we want to hear and side with us whether we're wrong or not. We've already designed our culture around avoiding accountability and consequence, it's only natural we'd plan for a future of perfecting it.

@tokyobybike@famichiki.jp but it's NOT cold at all. sure if you get soaked from the rain it doesn't feel great, but otherwise it's still quite warm out. and humid of course.

Apparently people on my dev team are blowing through their approved monthly token credits on claude code well before the month is up. I dunno what the fuck they're doing that is so intensive. On AI day I've forced myself to sit and code with Claude essentially all day, and never use more than like a quarter.

I'm only on the 4th book, and I am enjoying the Dungeon Crawler Carl series fairly enough, but I also can't understand why it's so incredibly popular suddenly either. It really does not seem like the kind of thing to become widely popular in the mainstream.

As is usually the case, once I start asking the most basic of questions, it becomes apparent that nobody has any fucking idea what they are doing.

@shilkytouch@famichiki.jp Don't even try looking at the comments on any topic about the US, there are paid agitators in those thread (they must be because why else) who slob Trump's knob in every thread even tangentially about him.

I will say though, the more I see those shuttles with the walkways that go *through* the shuttle nacelles, the more I wanna find whoever is responsible for that design decision and throttle them.

I think if I'm gonna go out today it'll be after the peak heat levels, in the evening...

TIL: if windows asks you to use CTRL-ALT-DEL for anything, and you're connected via RDP, you need to do CTRL-ALT-END instead...but it'll never tell you that.

I like spicy food and can generally handle it just fine, but many years ago a bad incident caused my body to decide it wants nothing to do with habanero anything. Just vehemently so. Crippling intestinal distress and cramping levels.
Anyway, this post is just to say I'm pretty sure the new spicy famichiki has habanero in it. 😫

This evening's plans have been cancelled due to more rain, which is a relief because I kind of didn't really want to go out anyway. Rescheduled to next Sunday, let's hope I'm in more of a social mood by then.

I submitted feedback to MyFitnessPal about my UI complaints and it's telling that the email you get in response to filing out the feedback form specifically mentions the new update and asking for patience.

@mdwyer@mastodon.social I'm reading because I don't really like Audiobooks. I guess if the audiobooks are the reason, that makes sense. Nobody these days actually *reads* books....

It's actually kinda hot out today. Maybe I wore too many layers. Sitting at the lunch spot sweating. Naturally they have the AC low because it's autumn.

At one point I was asked, since I've been at the company so long, what's my motivation to stay?
Was also brutally honest here and said "motivation" was the wrong word. I'm just used to it, and it's more hassle to leave. But if it keeps getting more hassle to stay than to leave, I may re-think.
Not sure how that went over.

Any time I get a new follower and they've got no info and zero posts, that's an instant block. Might I be blocking innocent false positives? Probably. Make an effort.

Made the mistake of reading the comments on JapanToday for the PR rule change article. Tons of armchair experts in America commenting about how entitled people are thinking they "deserve" PR.
