It's always a delightful day in open source when, while rambling about new-to-you-projects, you find stuff from someone you know.
It's an additionally delightful day when you learn you've been that person for someone else (👋 ).

I love how this message from the #pyconau organisers is being emphasized and re-emphasized daily.
Slide reads:
We don't do that here
We don't trash talk other communities.
We don't assume anyone is not a programmer.
We don't make jokes at the expense of others.
Robin is quite literally a pillar of open source, and if you have a moment and a dollar, she could use your help 💜
OH: "The shit-tuation..."
It's the weekend in Australia. Do you know where your #pyconau proposal is?
Mine is submitted in pretalx ✨
You have two weeks left to do the same! https://2026.pycon.org.au/cfp/
Need ideas and other help? Check out the CFP Workshops running online and in person in a city (hopefully) near you!
I would absolutely **hate** it if we got a bunch of last minute submissions for #PyConAU.
Absolutely the worst.
Especially if it's in the next few hours, before the deadline later tonight, Queensland time.
Having a few dozen more talks to review? Oh noooo.
Sunday (in a public holiday long weekend for some) is a great time to submit a talk for #pyconau
https://pycon.org.au/cfp 📣
Ever thought of submitting a talk to #pyconau?
We're running a series of CFP Workshops, including next week in Melbourne as part of MelbPy! https://www.meetup.com/en-au/melbourne-python-user-group/events/313646012/
Do come along, ask questions, and try your hand at proposal writing!

(hi! previous pyconau organiser here)
Yup, we've had some of these issues before, and posted about it https://2019.pycon-au.org/news/inclusivity-and-political-statements/ with specific actions the 2019 team would take (like Benno said)
I'm glad to see proactive information and useful action items for potential speakers from the 2026 team, and it's definitely a good reminder about how to use humour for positive outcomes.

@markush @freakboy3742 @timb07 Thankfully the Budapest Gambit resolves that issue with the following rule: the pigeon must be alive. (Full rules https://glasnt.com/pigeon/)
Weekend #threegoodthings:
Saw a great number of kangaroos
Got covered in dirt while being out in nature
Many hugs from good humans 💜
