I realised yesterday that we have no plans to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the USA. I remember the bicentennial when I was in high school and what a big thing that was for us. America seems so far away to me now, and not only in distance … not sure what to do about this.
Looking at old photos and got thinking about so many good people that I’ve shared time with, now that are lost to me. I’ve lost contact or, in some cases, they are no longer alive. My life has been full of good people. #Gratitude

Mam seemed appreciative of the peas I brought down on Friday, though she was nervous of us being close. We stayed as far away as possible. They nest on the riverbank in a sheltered space with the road above where we can toss some peas near her and she gobbles up the ones near her.

I gently tossed some for mam (I hope that is ok) but got out of the way before I could tell if she ate them. I wanted to minimise my interaction around the nest. This pair has been coming back to our weir for years- at least I assume it’s the same pair. They have a secure place to nest. Hopefully, they will have some cygnets soon.
