@SeaFury@aus.social I used to think they are the same, when I was very young. They were both just "unpleasant thing that makes me screw up my mouth that I don't want to eat". Started seeking out sour flavours at young school age, and have not been confused since then.

@TechConnectify great rant about mood lighting & light fixtures hidden in there. So many people around here avoid the light switch on the wall (called The Big Light in Britain) because it's too harsh and bright, and no matter how much I try I cannot convince them that this means their ceiling light is bad (bright, central, omnidirectional, bluish).

@acallegaro@mas.to addendum: I forgot to add you can follow releases on GitHub. If the author adds release notes you can get them in your RSS reader!

@acallegaro@mas.to I stopped using RSS when I started to access the web in equal parts on phone and PC, coordinating between devices was too hard. Rediscovered it last year: There are now web- and app-based readers that you can use on all your devices. And most of the web still generates RSS feeds. I follow journalists, subreddits, comics, and actual blogs (my original main use case). Everything in one place, no ads. I use Inoreader but there are many, and you can switch seemlessly between them.

@ewen hah - I used to have that, too. It was impossible to find online so I isolated it from the DVD, and that was the only time I ever worked with audio processing software. Nowadays my phone is always silent but I miss that softy, cheery door chime sometimes. Maybe it's time I got a customizable doorbell.

@masek@infosec.exchange enthusiastically agree, and also: Don't tell us what your project is not: "Perflorb is an alternative to HyperFlorb written in Snakey." And if you don't want to spam this information out all the time, that's what your bio and pinned posts are for.

@steve@discuss.systems @lynnesbian@fedi.lynnesbian.space @ireneista@adhd.irenes.space 512 axles are probably not allowed for being too long, anyway. The maximum length is normally 1km, and that would mean comically short cars even if they had more than 2 axles each.

@mondstern I know several places (cafés, mostly, and of course all government buildings) here in Edinburgh that could be tagged with this key. I'll be keeping an eye out to update them when I see it.

Judging by the level of buzz in the streets and cafés today I'd say we should have elections more often - they clearly have a positive impact on the local economy.

@mattblaze@federate.social Hmm, I've tried doing it with a phone and it doesn't work for me, either. Maybe I should start bringing a backup camera along so I can leave one on the tripod.

@gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz remarkable how they appear angry at the infrastructure provider who received an authorised request to delete a volume and executed it. They aren't even questioning why they gave a random button-pushing machine this level of access. They also appear to have files with API tokens lying around. If only thousands of competent software engineers were looking for jobs right now maybe this could have been avoided.

@avidandrew@universeodon.com stability is not exactly the word I'd use. For example: my webcam was broken for months this year because arch upgraded the kernel but not v4l2. And when this kind of thing happens there is no practical recourse, other than to wait. I use a different distro on my other machine so that _when_ Arch breaks I still have a working system... Somehow I still prefer it.
