@smutmag@mstdn.social @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt ADHD is certainly a disorder since you're much more likely to take risks, have a higher chance of being involved in an accident or developing some kind of addiction to regulate your dopamine levels - mental health issues are another topic. But yeah, it sure would be nice if we lived in a society which allowed for people being a different from the norm without being penalized all the time.

@smutmag@mstdn.social @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt Technically, you are correct. But executive dysfunction totally is a thing and you're much more likely to be stuck in a bad situation if you have ADHD. These things often also take planning. My personal experience is that executive dysfunction will fuck you pretty hard unless things are getting really ugly.

@volcano@nerdculture.de @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt It is much the same issue. If you're older than 30 or something like that, you weren't autistic unless you had really severe impairments in daily life. Coupled with high IQ, it is even today not really easy to diagnose autism and/or ADHD. Especially since you can be intellectually gifted and have ADHD and autism, all at the same time.
