Our corn/bean/pumpkin patch development.
The first image is from July 4th then the same area is shown on July 23rd and finally July 30th. With each corn plant is a bean or two, which are now nearly a meter tall clinging to the corn. The pumpkins are trained to go down the rows, they seem to help deter some pests such as raccoons. I've used this method for several seasons. There are four types of corn here which will mature at very different times. #gardening #saskatchewan

@miki_lou@mastodon.social @dyckron@cosocial.ca As much as I hate to give the SkParty credit for anything, these changes actually make some sense to me?
What I see lacking nowadays is enforcement of any of our traffic rules. This has led to some very dangerous attitudes/habits on our roads.
Who cares what the rules are if they are not regularly enforced?

@Tom_ofB@23.social @sundogplanets@mastodon.social Can confirm it was +27C here two days ago, snowing today. Saskatchewan weather is funny like this. Makes activities like farming or gardening so much more interesting.
On the plus side no ticks today.

@yngmar@social.tchncs.de Very similiar here. I plant shallow in our cold soil. Then do the first hilling when the plants are just emerging. Second hilling is done when the plants are about a foot high or when the weeds need to be controlled. Then we put deep straw between the rows and wait for harvest. Ever since we started using straw cover, I have never needed to water potatoes.

@yngmar@social.tchncs.de Looks great, that tiller did a nice job. I'm sure your plow will make ideal furrows for potato planting so long as you can control the depth. Do you plan to plant and hill at the same time or do you plant level and then wait and hill once or twice after the crop comes up?

@MMRnmd@todon.eu Private equity enshitification is everywhere, funeral homes, pharmacies, vet clinics and now I'm reading how they screwed up the fire trucks too.
In every case these parasites inflate costs and degrade services to the end user. Investment funds managed to degrade fire fighting capacity while doubling equipment costs and reducing long term reliability! What a world.

@bodhipaksa@mastodon.scot "The future is going to be much, much worse."
Think on terms of food systems collapsing due to new weather extremes as being very possible in the near future.
That and of course war, war will become much more likely as many areas become unlivable.
Either one of those two outcomes should be more than enough to encourage drastic carbon mitigation action.
