p5.strands boids! https://editor.p5js.org/davepagurek/sketches/JoMhtXAR2 Video compression does not like this much, but my 2021 macbook runs 10,000 boids with no spatial partitioning or anything, just a regular old for loop, with no problem
Terriblehack was this weekend! I made a library for making your UI hairy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPFFBWoCVYU
I've been working on adding compute shaders to p5, and an initial version will be released in the next p5 version! So I took some time to talk about the wider vision around teaching GPU programming in today's exciting but complicated world. https://www.davepagurek.com/blog/p5-compute-shaders/

@loosenut@genart.social cool! what does noisedeck's implementation look like? also a compute shader? some spatial partitioning in there?
A post about some of the recent updates to p5! @ProcessingOrg@medium.com

I think right now the most awkward part of the code is not the flocking but updating the rotation in the shader drawing the particles. a transformation API may need to be next

@mwichary@mastodon.online btw, just noticed in one of your recent posts that your top bar has that glossy background. Noticed it again here too. Looks cool! Is that a custom thing? Part of the wallpaper?

@mwichary@mastodon.online Great work on the UI showing the state of the machine, reminds me of VST UIs in audio software!
