I am a multifaceted #artist and #developer based in #Potsdam, exploring the intersections of #technology, #creativity, human #communication, #music, and #machines. As the 'mad scientist drummer' I use my #drums to interact with #sequencers and #synthesizers. Working as IT #ProductManager in #LifeSciences #Berlin, in my free time developing the #Senode iOS app.

I built a compact MIDI controller for my live set, based on OpenDeck and RaspberryPi Pico. And yes, there was a pizza oven involved!

It all started with the MIDIBox I built in 2003. A whole world of DIY electronics, microcontrollers and interactive electronic music was waiting for me. So much of that ecosystem is based on open source and contributions by only few individuals worldwide – I am very thankful for the great resources people like Thorsten Klose and his ucApps.de website are still maintaining until today.

@Mastodon @imanijoy jam-packed 5-day sprint? That's not what I'm expecting to find here to be honest. Let's hope this is a release with best intentions to keep the fediverse human-centered, slow-paced and social. I love being part if it!

@infobeautiful That's a fun research topic! And as a #Potsdam resident, I can confirm gravity is sometimes quite high over here 😁

@oleksiy@sonomu.club Have you seen OpenDeck? It's an Open Source project with RPi Pico support - I built this, for sure you could come up with a DJ controller as well https://www.sebastian-arnold.net/projects/livedeck-controller

@lisyarus@mastodon.gamedev.place I don't know what the game will be about, and probably your intention is much different, but it would make a great generative racing game, maybe even with boats on the rivers 😅.

Make Websites instead of scrolling reels. In this video the idea above is nicely illustrated by Onionboots, with some great picks from the #IndieWeb https://youtu.be/tkUgOT22F5s

@icaria36@sonomu.club Cool to see more #DrumBeam users here! As an experienced drummer on acoustic and electric kits I can confirm the physical bounce is very well balanced and feels good and natural to play. No tennis ball or pillow effect 🥁

@icaria36@sonomu.club Hmm I think it is a great and versatile tool to interface with electronics. So it will either elevate your drum with synthetic sounds or your synths with more haptic interaction. But if you're looking into drumming/percussion there's so much more to it with an acoustic instrument, its own dynamics and challenges. For pure stick control I'd rather recommend a practice pad or mesh trigger pad, which gives you more natural feel and better allows playing styles like rolls and rim shots.
