UK-based, minor internet wizard. Radical Centrist. I built the IMDb message boards. I ran the last.fm databases. I rendered the picture-books at Wonderbly. I survived Makeshift. Core engineer at Platform.sh. Many others lost to time. Rough like a ninja, stinging like a bee.

I used to be @cms@mastodon.social on mastodon prime, but that place was getting crowded. My main fediverse account was @cms@social.lol over at the omg.lol indie web space for a _long_ while, but I finally relocated here so I can fulfill my internet destiny as @cms@fed.beatworm.co.uk here on my own server

I enjoy using my block button. It's probably not personal.

@mmokhi@mastodon.social I think the thing to look at everywhere in "the west" is the leaving behind of the working classes by the systems of wealth extraction. In the UK, yes, it was weaponised into nostalgic isolationism, but this fault line is growing in every European nation this century, and is similarly vulnerable to exploitation by radicals, maybe with different negative outcomes...perhaps some can find a positive radicalism instead.

@bodil it seems unlikely  to me that any brute forced language generating techniques,  can be provenly constrained in that way, cheaply and effectively enough.

somehow managed to be surprised by being laid off, even though I started prepping for it in Jan, 🤣

So, officially looking for work again, anyone hiring ridiculously T-shaped wizards?  UK, SE based (London) ,  ideally hybrid, or fully remote

I have astounding references, people love working with me.

@bodil I don't fundamentally disagree, but that raises another interesting point. Just how little those qualities have caused Claude Code any significant failures. Which is the other thing people say - if these tools can do anything of use where are the successful apps? Well kind of here, right? Claude Code is one of the most successful product launches of its kind, for quite some time. It works well enough to be considered a market leader. Apparently it's made of pure jank, but apparently, perhaps surprisingly, that doesn't matter so much? I mean, yikes. I don't like it all that much as a tooling approach, but it's  coherent, performs well, and works reliably, when I have tried it.  (I've put in a few dozen hours maybe) Me being one of nature's outliers forever, I think Claude desktop is a better product, whatever that's worth 🤷 - but I don't use that as a coding agent much either.

@Orb2069 no, it doesn't "turn out" like that at all, I don't think that is a very accurate description of anything happening here. c.f. https://jsomers.net/blog/it-turns-out

@mmokhi@mastodon.social well quite, and we democratically ejected Johnson and the Tory administration that implemented the break, and replaced them with a fresh regime more interested in cooperation, hence this.

@mmokhi@mastodon.social I'm sure there is a negotiation, so some benefits both sides. I have not read detail, forgive me. At the very least, seeding a fresh generation of British with cultural connections and appreciation to Europe is wise investment for future EU. (I'm sure you don't want two hour cms lecture on British politics but I think the party domestically with the most gain to be made from rejoin policy right now is the Tories, this might even happen by the next election. Politics is dumb process)
