@amin @joel @GamesMissed What's with everyone recommending Poirot, when Tommy and Tuppence are sooo much sweeter and cooler ✨✨😁

(4 goldfish are more opaque than the rest. Completely intentional--these four are the goldfish I know personally; the other goldfish I haven't talked with yet. 😋😂)

@simontatham Just to make matters more complicated (and lend extra weight to the "always show both" suggestion): sometimes, constants make sense only in relation to other constants - for example, 255 is arguably best written as hex; but if you have a list of multiples of 5 between 0 and 300, seeing [ ..., 250, 0xff, 260, ... ] will confuse the human reader.

@cascheranno@hachyderm.io @gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz Hmm.. but by the same token, if two points "near" 4 get picked together, wouldn't you get a line roughly parallel to 4, thus crossing 2 and 3?
I have an odd feeling you end up getting a nasty cancellation that makes any pair equally likely 🤔
(edit: actually- I have an almost-proof using barycentric coordinates and the way they interact with ratios of areas and sampled points that shows all pairs of sides are equally likely, but don't trust me before I've written it out)

@zarr@fosstodon.org Kudos to whoever left https://github.com/zarr-developers/zarr-python/issues/3144 unsolved—it was my fastest issue solve on stream yet! 😁 🎉 🎉 🎉
...now I have to find ways to break the 43 minute barrier on solving an issue 😂
(It was somehow also the fastest time before I've ever gotten feedback on a PR: within 3 minutes opening! 😮)

@gMoon Have you considered buying music? I started a CD/Bandcamp album collection last October after similar misgivings with streaming, and.. it's been a blast so far! (: (https://bojidar-bg.dev/blog/2025-10-08-despotify/)

@bug@fosstodon.org raises hand I'd be interested! (I'd also love to just switch to Nix, but that sounds like a 2-weekend-and-it-keeps-going project, so maybe not right away 😂)
Curious if your script supports pinning versions already (similar to the result of running downgrade).

@jlhertel@fosstodon.org Knowing the people around, you are most likely to be told here you are crazy to use LLMs even for basic questions! 😅
I personally enjoy reading refernce documentation, and writing code as a way of thinking and modelling the problem in my mind. Reviewing LLM-generated code has given me enough evidence that the people using such tools rarely understand the whole system behind - so, I suppose it's not my cup of tea.
(and that's ignoring the economic-bubble-like situation)

@jlhertel@fosstodon.org Hmm... probably a difference in employers / cultures 🤔 My current employer strongly values employees as humans and experts.. and local managers tend to be very laissez-faire about work - as long as people are happy and work is being done according to standards, they don't enforce usage of specific tools. There are rumblings of ""AI-First"", but much more distant than in your case.. 🤔
