I might not go so far as to say that Phish saved my life, but I will say that Phish changed the direction of my life. Seeing these last three shows at MSG (via livestream, not in person) brought me back to a time when I was a completely different person. I'd only just met the lifelong friends that would form my social groups. I'd hazard a guess that my closest friendships I still have came out of this era - the mid-90s. Phish is currently playing five shows at Madison Square Garden. It is their 92nd, 93rd, 94th, 95th, and 96th shows they've played there. In tribute they are playing shows consisting of songs from those years ('92-'96). This was the era when I discovered this band; in discussion with friends, these last three shows (92-94 so far) have been like a time machine, and not only for the fans, but for the band, too. They're playing so well right now. These five shows are going to be really special ones that will be replayed by all of us for years to come. Thanks, #phish.

Every fucking day it's another first. This is definitely a number of firsts. Ironically, it now seems that the first American Pope isn't going to visit his birth country because of threats from his home country's government.

Absolutely wild shit.

These fuckers can never be allowed to have power again, because 1) they can't manage an economy, 2) they're into shady shit like crypto and pedophilia (and protecting those who engage in those shady things) and 3) they threaten all of the good humans that make up this planet.

Vote them out, and make sure they're never in power again, because they only fuck shit up. Always. Repeatedly. Habitually.

Habitual line steppers.

The Democratic party needs THIS kind of energy.

He's right about everything, but as long as we've got milquetoast leadership like Jeffries and Schumer who believe strongly-worded letters are better than actions, we're going to continue to have these problems. I had such high hopes for Jeffries, and Schumer is more beholden to Israel's interests than the interests of Americans and American Democrats.

RE: @FediTips@social.growyourown.services

Please feel free to have a look at one of my self-hosted Ghost sites: Is Donald Trump Alive.

https://isdonaldtrumpalive.com

Ghost is a great publishing platform. I self-host, but there is a paid version where all of the hosting is taken care of.

As of Ghost 6.0, Ghost is now ActivityPub-enabled, and you can follow the aforementioned site at: @well

I'm always seeing people who claim to be 'progressive' publishing their words on Substack, and I cannot understand why when an open source, clean, Nazi-free solution is right there.

RE: https://hachyderm.io/@datarama/116815738467957424 It's going to be more and more important in the future to put the blame where the blame lies. Jimmy Carter put solar panels on the White House in the 70s. Ronald Reagan ripped them out in the 80s. Right now, my house is drawing 4.7kW. The A/C is on. The washing machine and the dishwasher are going. I'm pulling zero from the grid because of my solar panels and my battery. I know that not everyone can afford that (hell, I can't), but what if we didn't spend billions and trillions of dollars on wars of choice and fossil fuel subsidies, and instead gave it to regular people to de-carbonize their energy use? Elect people who are going to do that. Honestly, it's probably too late to reverse the worst, but if we don't do something, this planet is not going to be livable for most species, both on land and in the oceans.

"Humans are to blame for climate change". Really? Is a Bangladeshi seamstress to blame? Is a street child from a Brazilian favela to blame? Or perhaps a subsistence fisherman from Somalia or an elderly tribeswoman from Papua New Guinea? While those who are to blame are definitely human, they are some quite specific humans.

James Talarico used to be my state representative before they redrew the district, and he had to move to north Austin in order to keep a seat. He's good people, and I really hope he's the next Senator from Texas. Paxton should be in jail, and Cornyn should be fly fishing somewhere, retired.

I always watch the previous night's late night monologues (except for Fallon) during my lunch, and when I saw this segment come up this morning, I knew lunch was going to be awesome.

The Strike Force Five reunion. If you haven't listened to the Strike Force Five podcast, I highly recommend it.

Also, it is really a shitty time, but that the five really good late night comedy show hosts all love each other like this is really one of the best things about this shitty timeline.

I am going to so miss Stephen Colbert, but I just know he's got something cooking, and I can't wait to see what it is (aside from the LOTR story he and his son are writing).

Set some time to watch this, and again, if you haven't heard the 12 episode podcast Strike Force Five, you should set some time for that, too.

4p: Yea, Spring Break! Let's get out of here!

5:30p: COO: Hey, one of our staff's emails seems to be compromised, and is sending out phishing emails.

5:35p: staff member on the phone, password reset (and yes, of course she uses the same one everywhere)

5:40p: all staff email from me: DON'T CLICK THE BUTTON!

5:45p: COO scrubbing any unopened emails from our mail server.

5:50p: texts and emails pouring in from staff: OMG I CLICKED THE BUTTON AND PUT MY INFO IN!

5:55p: Goddammit. I'm not even one beer into Spring Break yet.

So, phishing training is too expensive, huh? Cool, cool, cool, cool...

Dug around and found some history on io.com. io.com was an offshoot of Steve Jackson Games, and they got into the online scene when BBSs were all the rage, transitioning to the Internet over time. I think I got my io.com address in 1994 or 1995, and kept it active for probably a dozen years after that. I got my well.com address after moving to Santa Cruz in the late 90s. Gotta have a Bay Area email address if you're living in Norcal... I wish I'd kept that one, but I had to let it go for financial reasons (broke-ass dot-com bubble survivor). https://www.sjgames.com/SS/io.html

It's absolutely wild that this kind of shit is how they waste our tax dollars.

Then, they have the unmitigated audacity to tell people they can't have a treat if they're on food assistance.

They tell us we can't have free healthcare for all because it's just too expensive.

They tell us that Social Security is going to be insolvent soon.

Fuck every one of these people and fuck us for letting them anywhere near power.

"Per the analysis by Open the Books, in September, the Pentagon spent $2 million on Alaskan king crab, $6.9 million on lobster tail, $15.1 million on ribeye steak, and $1 million on salmon. Dessert included 272 orders of doughnuts for $139,224 and ice cream machines for $124,000 ... Furniture is near the top of the military’s wish list at the end of every fiscal year. Since 2008, the DoD has spent an average of $257.6 million on furniture every September..."

Steven Spielberg is one of the greatest directors, producers, and storytellers of all time. I can't think of a bomb of a movie he's had a hand in (there's probably one or two, I just can't think of them). I'm so looking forward to Disclosure Day. I re-watched Close Encounters Of The Third Kind a few months back, and it still holds up nearly 50 years on. Cannot wait until June. I will be there opening night.

With the lack of competence endemic to this Administration, has anyone verified they've contacted the B52 bomber crews, who are on their way to Iran, and told them the operation is on pause?
