@gnoll110@ruby.social I so want this anecdote to be true. Please, someone confirm!

@pj@theforkiverse.com yes! And personally I would add that using https://archive.org/ for links is appreciated to overcome removals, paywalls and other hurdles

@groxx @shibacomputer @Mer__edith also. I've never heard of this supposed "spamming" behavior. I wish more people knew about signal but I'm glad they're not being spammed

@shibacomputer @Mer__edith I'm pretty sure I used Signal in 2014 and Wikipedia also says it was released in 2014. Did you mix up the years here? Or what were you building in 2015?

@SpencerWolfe@mastodon.social personally I think the X1 Carbon Gen 9 is pretty neat. Ultralight, 16:10 screen and in this generation a good balance of still being speedy and prices coming down. Don't know the "heavier" lines quite as well but there are some great ones too

@pj in another post you bemoan the lack of crypto scams. And yet here you have a beautiful big number showing growth. And in this case it might even do good for humanity.

@warandpeas have you considered using Liberapay? At least in parallel? I'm sure I'm not alone in preferring that 1) a higher cut goes to the creator and 2) we don't end up sending money to a US company every time we want to support a creator 😉

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu how about the EU investing in public infrastructure as the "digital town square" - the fediverse exists and is OSS. Fund it, run public instances and pay moderators and include healthy usage of it in the school curriculum. Especially in the wake of discussions about prohibiting SoMe for teenagers. Create meaningful alternatives instead of focusing on what not to do 😉

@SpencerWolfe@mastodon.social a refurbished ThinkPad I would recommend. Depending on your size, weight and performance preferences I'd go X, T or P line. Minimum 10th gen Intel and personally I'd future proof by going for more than 16GB RAM (keep in mind many cannot be upgraded any longer, especially X series). Don't worry about SSD size and battery health too much as those are easy to upgrade.

@cmconseils@mastodon.social I'd love q higher res version of this to use as a wallpaper on my phone
