As a #cinephile, I mostly talk about #movies and related topics.
I review movies, both on my personal blog and for @popculturemaniacs@mastodon.social .
I boost most #LetterboxdFriday posts due to the community aspect, regardless of whether I agree with your ratings.
Also a full-time computer programmer, but that's not why I'm here.

And now for something, completely different.
And utterly delightful! Especially as an American who quite enjoys cornbread.
Irish man tries cornbread
@filmfileuk@mastodonapp.uk List time! =)
- Spiral (1998) - The forgotten original sequel to Ringu.
- Enys Men - It made a splash upon release, but I've heard nothing about it since
- Antiviral - Brandon Cronenberg's debut feature
- Possessor - Even his more popular follow up isn't talked about as much as it should be!
- Deerskin - Quentin Dupieux's best movie, IMHO
- The Wolf House, Willy's Wonderland, and Color Out of Space - None are exactly obscure, but neither are they as widely seen as they deserve.
My review of the new heist-thriller from David Mackenzie, who also directed last year's Relay, is up!
@filmfileuk - "Tamala 2010: A Punk Cat in Space" is Blade Runner crossed with The Crying of Lot 49, but also anime and CGI and...just...a whole ass vibe
-
"The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" is a hilarious satire of 50s scifi
-
"They Cloned Tyrone" is a fun flick that was overshadowed by releasing the same weekend as Barbie and Oppenheimer
-
"Tribulation 99: Alien Anomalies Under America" is a collage film "documentary" of alien conquest of the US gov that's actually about colonialism more broadly
The central experiences they talk about here, especially the recognition that the experience of working in the tech industry has radically changed from the buzzing excitement of the 2010s, resonate with me quite strongly.
@filmfileuk And finally:
- "Last and First Men" is a minimalist, slow cinema odyssey, a future documentary passed down from the dying days of the Universe and last days of mankind, and the only film directed by the late Jóhann Jóhannsson.
