if Boston had any heart as a city there'd be more than this weak "strongly worded letter" to keep a T station open so unhoused folks can stay warm in cold weather

saw one of these yesterday near the library in EB -- it seemed tired and a child put it in a tree where it took a nap and thankfully flew off later

Is anyone logging in to east boston's eagle hill civic association meeting tonight at 7pm? That grifty scammer matt pollock (aka moyer bell) might try to show his nasty face and take credit for facilitating art projects in the neighborhood.
If our local community leaders/ elected officials fall for this kid's stupid tricks they need to be replaced.
*I'm not logging on bc I don't need to hear his bullshit*
I check this periodically and still don't understand why the "typical annual salary" list isn't in order from least to greatest or viceversa

Why does the "City Of Boston" have a page called https://www.boston.gov/rss/events but it wants us to download a "rss file" ??! Who even works here?
Also municipal websites should function on older browsers because not everyone has the capacity to keep their devices and internet access 1000% upgraded.
"ai" systems should be destroyed, and if not, this brilliant book (and nothing else) should be fed into them.

RE: @universalhub@mastodon.online
we don't need the city to organize shovelling meetups 🙃
they could be *paying* folks to clear the snow but these comments are going nowhere bc the city is not in the fediverse #boston #bospoli #snow
I'm a renter and I just shovelled in front of my building bc I grew up in MA and I was not about to let the older guy who takes out the trash hurt himself trying. A neighbor getting takeout stopped and helped for half the job. I tried to walk to my garden but it was too slippery, so I just walked around the block ( I love the grid 🔳) and another neighbor and I spontaneously decided to shovel out a crosswalk ramp together. 🎉 In NYC they are paying people $30/hr to clear the snow. PAYING PEOPLE
watched several surprising films over the weekend, rented from the BPL, including Downsizing (Matt Damon?!), The Drowning Pool (Paul Newman), The Duke (Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren), Cake (Jennifer Aniston) and the one I originally went in for Dark Water (Mark Ruffalo, Anne Hathaway). Ruffalo making Dark Water was such a good decision on his part and Rob Bilott, the lawyer he portrays is an absolute hero for pursuing the case against Dupont as far as he did.

Just heard a PSA on wmbr about the "guided ride series" in metro Boston. Anyone familiar? Their website is janky on my phone.

people should also have to retake drivers ed every two years to renew their licenses

if elected representatives can't make it to community cleanup events, for #EarthDay or otherwise, they should *at least* send their staff. WHAT are we paying them for?

It reinforces the sense that the city’s growth has been skewed toward serving investors and part time residents rather than people who plan to build their lives in Boston" #boston #realestate #luxury
