i recognize there's a way of looking at this that's more of a "the more the merrier" type of thing, expanding the number of people that are able to write software. but let's remember these LLMs are essentially exploiting the work of all the programmers that generated its data, while devaluing that work going forward.

What we've learned since Deep Blue is not just our craft is changing and/or becoming obsolete (depending on how you look at it), but the system responsible is a result of massive IP theft and continues to be extremely harmful to the environment. This to me is the most demoralizing, that it's becoming impossible to continue my work ethically.
