RE: https://mastodon.social/@TheWarOnCars/116908039738818875 This gives "car brain" a whole new meaning.

@maxleibman They're also partly about gatekeeping certain professions by making previous unpaid internships a positive in the hiring process while the only people who can afford to take unpaid internships are those higher up on the socioeconomic ladder.

"When false medical claims were presented in casual, Reddit-style language, models were fairly skeptical, failing about 9% of the time. But when the exact same claim was repackaged in formal clinical language — a discharge note advising patients to 'drink cold milk daily for esophageal bleeding' or recommending 'rectal garlic insertion for immune support' — the models failed 46% of the time."

"yOu cAn'T pUt ThE gEnIe bAcK iN ThE bOtTlE"

Not so sure about that when article after article details just how much VC money is being thrown away trying to keep that genie out of the bottle.

@mattblaze@federate.social I feel like someone on here figured out that CWed content never hits the trending page even if it would qualify based on activity. But I can't find the post again to make sure I'm not misremembering. It might be that dot social specifically only allows non CWed content to trend, maybe? @FediTips@social.growyourown.services Does this sound familiar to you or am I having a false memory?

@mattsheffield This is a pretty compelling hypothesis but if true how could a democratic society compensate for it? Medicalizing it seems like a bad idea for reasons that would exceed the character count here but hopefully become obvious to most people after the slightest bit of thought. Just ignoring it and continuing on the same as always doesn't seem like a good idea either.

@jrdepriest@infosec.exchange @GrimmReality@beige.party Not uncommon for retail. Butter up the customer so they'll buy more. I worked for, let's call it a corporate small box retailer, and I was instructed to greet everyone by complimenting something about them. We only had three aisles so if they weren't all represented in the basket we were to recommend something from the missing aisle. Per my supervisor this wasn't being phony because training instructed us to "be genuine". And if we weren't our hours were cut.
