Hey Discord - which 3rd party provider will lose our data next, once we give *you* our age verification selfies?
I always hoped there would be a time where I can return to Firefox, but with 156 and sponsored entries in the address bar they are literally on the same level as Microsoft selling out their users.
I know you can disable it, still it is opt out and so the biggest no-no. Just use a fork of Firefox if you are still into the Engine. (I switched to Vivaldi a year ago)
In the 90s I learned how to use digital media - like for instance creating personal backup copies. I was lazy and embraced the new way of consuming media, like streaming services.
But today I remember the good old days. A valuable lesson, for times like these where enshittification is all over the place.
Of course I do not endorse pirating copies of anything 🤪

I did not find a lot of clues online, or have looked in the wrong places. Either most of us do not know yet what is about to happen, or they do not mind? If they do no know an outcry will happen at some point, but I rather assume most just shrug their shoulders.
I mean it does not affect those buying hard copies anyway, but I can not imagine there are so few epub readers?

@mmeier@social.mei-home.net I did not consider this when I also installed the new app. I have uninstalled it ow to not buy any of their non-free-books by accident.

That really is stupid. I have not replaced my 300 kindle books and deleted my amazon account to now do the same vendor lockin trap elsewhere....

What I am really interested is, how you call Windows, if KDE and Gbome are memory hogs? 😉

Out of curiosity: How would it compare to other products, does it work as intended in other cases?

It makes sense: developing their shitty OS takes too much time - even with its ensloppified features there is even less revenue. Why not replace it by a system that works better and is developed by others? I mean they sure can put up ads on a Windows branded desktop environment, there is no feature that Windows makes better than Linux... except for maybe some KLAC. lol

What started as a joke, taught me a lesson. It felt like reaching 1000hrs would be a funny task. 10/100/1000 just a zero more right?
It is nothing new that humans are bad with numbers, the larger the worse. Just start a stopwatch, keep it running, and try to catch up with me if you can...

Not sure if the generalization of how I interpret 'contribution' is correct. It does not explicitly ban AI for coding, but for creating automated issues or PRs, right?
AI assistance as I would expect it is still that every line and concept is reviewed and understood by a human, independent from whether it was typed by AI or not. Disallowing issues/PRs but not code per se implies this.
But I may be wrong if the PR is defined by its code in a more strict sense. I am not into developing open source so sorry if asking something obvious.

Wait, Waymo did not charge for the unintended but extra luggage transport? Seems like a good deal ... 🫣
